Hi, agracier, did you attend the site

dealing with 80 SCW airfields?

agracier Wrote:Here is another map that looks promising, one of Egypt. What should be interesting in this is trying to show the cultivated green of the Delta and the Nile banks, while retaining the bleak landscape of the Western Desert ...
And in this it will be possible to use the Pyramid objects !!
Ah nice, Egypt and pyramids.
Edit: I downloaded your other (northeast?) Spain map and it was only playable after selecting Excellent Settings instead of Perfect to avoid a crash to desktop.
How about this Spain and Egypt map?

There is on map that is missing too.
Palestine/Israel. It could be quite small!
I used to live in Jerusalem about 6 months. It was back in 98. Memories.....

With your Egypt map and the growth in jet aircraft I can see a Suez Crisis scenario coming soon.
Seriously though, these are just what the game needs.
Thank you

Well, that wasn't really my map, it was just a map I retextured ... and it was a bit of a disappointment all in all. I was just beginning to learn and understand how maps work ...
The new maps will all work in perfect (highest) settings and will include map_f (far maps). Thanks to kevins map building tutorial ...

Just an interesting shot of reality vs a Sturmovik map.
The real world photo is of a singularly visible mountain near Baza, that rises up out the plain somewhat in the middle, a very visible point for kilometers around.
The screencap is of the same mountain as viewed in this map in preparation.
I was very impressed how in-game maps reflect the real world in terms of form and shape. The approach angle is a bit off in regards to each photo, but even so ...

cheers

very nicely made job, if you continue like that, you'll end up the maps of SCW almost by yourself

nice idea! Did you also included Baleares?

No, they didn't get on this map. They are more to the north, somewhere on the line of Valencia to the east.
This map didn't get to Murcia even, it was large enough as it is ...
But the Balearic Islands is a good idea. There were bombing raids and even some naval action of a kind during the SCW ...
I'll see how a startup map looks of this ... must have a dozen or more already, another one wouldn't hurt ... ha ha

But there is/was some WIP concerning the Balearic Islands:
