Wow - Very realistic - breathtaking even

Some shots I took from a hot air balloon over Essex (lower altitude - around 2700 ft):

Lovely stuff, Compans Big Grin

Really looking forward to seeing Canon' final version Channel map with these textures.

Quick question: can these be used with Asheshouse's Battle of France map?

I don't see why not. Just alter lines in the correct Load.ini

Just put these into my Normandy loadini.. see here. http://allaircraftsimulations.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=16199 Lovely.. Thanks Comp! Big Grin

I, for one, certainly appreciate the response. I think I know what you guys are saying - please understand, I'm 67 yrs old, not nearly as smart as y'all, and some of this is kinda tough.

When I "cut and paste" the lines into a load.ini as recommended, how then, do I see the results? Is it necessary to use the full mission builder (which for me has always been a bit of a problem), or will it show up when playing campaigns that are in France? By the way, I never play the game online.

And, if you would bear with me just one more second - I keep reading here about low end PC's. Can you tell me what mine is? I have a Athlon x2 6000+ cpu, ATI 4830 video card, 4gb of memory, 650w PSU, other stuff. When I read about how some mods will overly tax "low end" pc's, I am never sure if it applies to me. How much/how little can I expect to use mods without them killing my machine?

Thank you for any help, and your patience.
Big Grin

Hi Bob. Here's the gen;

1. Have you downloaded the unified installer - ie are you patched for mods? If not you'll have to do that first.

2. Go to your IL2/Mods/Mapmods folder. Open CAN_Channel folder. Open 'CAN_40_load' file. Replace the lines I posted earlier (back up your original file and save somewhere else). You will not need full mission builder (unless you have no missions which use this map - if this is the case find a campaign or single missions to download which do use the map). Just play the game on Cannon's Channel map and it should show. Any probs don't hesitate to ask!

Compans this is excellent. That also has to be one of my mosy favourite screenshots; one of the best textures in the game with (IMHO) the best hurricane skin in the game. I loved your hurricane campaign BTW

Cheers mate!

NO problem; thanks for the great effort you've put into this game Big Grin

Compans very graciously responded to my question, and, said to let him know if I had problems. This was probably the wrong thing to say. I always have some sort of problem or other. Sad

Here goes. When I try to load a mission in QMB using the Channel map, I get "Mission loading failed: Landscape 'CAN_Channel/CAN40_load.ini' loading error".

Any idea what I have done wrong? I tried and followed instructions, but still, no luck.

While we are speaking of maps, load.ini stuff, what does it indicate when a map has multiple load.ini files? I have a "Normany" map (sorry, I don't know the author, I don't know how to tell), that has load1.ini, load2.ini, etc. What in the heck is that? My Channel map had an alternate .ini file, but I searched and found the one I was supposed to change the lines on.

Sorry for being such a pain. I do really appreciate your help. Thank you.

.

It means that either you've typed the entry incorrectly in the load.ini (Check spelling, .tga, root etc) or the texture hasn't been placed in the _tex/land folder in your MODS folder.

- Compans - 30.05.2009

Thanks Cannon. Remember it's the _tex/land/summer folder.

There are actually 3 Normandy maps, with or without British island etc.....that's why there are 3 Load.ini files.
