What "Best Movie of the Year" competition are you talking about? I've seen nothing concerning such a "competition".
Nuk3m: What competition are you talking about?
- biscuits - 07.06.2009
He's talking about the online machinima festival, the one you asked people to nominate a movie on and on which one of you movie forum jokers entered my movie in without asking.

Thanks for the clarification/reminder. That 'competiton' has been underway for so many months, more than half a year, that I'd totally forgotten it existed.
I personally didn't enter your movie.... If you were offended by it being nominated last December, I know that you could have very easily notified the organizers of the Competition that you wanted it withdrawn. In fact, it is not too late even today to EMail the organizers and withdraw your movie from consideration before the final results of the judging are announced.
Since you seem to consider the members of the UBI movie-makers forum to be
Jokers, I question what motivated you to announce your movie's release at that very Forum on August 11 2008, and why you seemed somewhat pleased (and humble) with the very positive responses/reviews which it received from some of the very best IL2 movie-makers...of
any Forum.
Perhaps there is a language/slang translation gap, but calling the UBI forum members "Jokers" seems a bit disparaging...and some might say uncalled for. In American English, at least.

I haven't posted at the UBI movie forums for almost a year, I found out by e-mail a month ago after the event was over that my movie has been in a "machinima" festival, the one you announced at the UBI forum I even hate the term machinima and all it stands for which is usually world of warcraft or second life lol, and dislike competitions as you would know from my posts there. I then looked back over the forums to find about nominations.
Why would anyone enter someone else's movie in something without the makers permission is more than odd to me so my term jokers is not misplaced and I am also a member of the forum, maybe you think that's normal practice, seems damned bizarre to me, and if it was my old sweaty comrade Joe he would understand the term anyway.
I posted my movie at the forum as it used to be the place to post IL-2 movies (really) and was an active member (as you know), though now looks like one of the deadest places in the known universe.
Yes, pleased and humbled to see comments here also a year later but why if you have no input on the subject matter in a thread go on and on about movie competitions? how important can it possibly be which one he was referring to? who cares? it's one of the reasons I stopped posting at the movie forums, now a year later, another forum I find this thread and no change there. Anyway that's the end of the matter as far as I'm concerned, let's move on.

Your pomposity has always astounded most of us. You seem to think you are above it all, a la van Gogh I suppose. Best of luck to your ears.
As I said, EMAIL the OMFF organizers and withdraw your movie. I didn't submit it; I didn't vote for it, so it won't bother me. There are far better movies in that OMFF category than yours. imho
Behind the scenes, you long ago came to be seen as an eccentric....presumably seeing yourself as being in the company of the likes of Brando and George C. Scott, each of whom displayed themselves laughably as beyond the pedestrian acceptance of, and humilty of, praise from the lowly
non-artistes of the world. At least you have not yet foisted upon us some lame political cause...what was Brando's when he refused to accept his Oscar? Oh yes, something about saving the Indians, spoken by an actress who had no native american blood in her at all. It was an
Act...by an actor once removed.....and Laughable.
In any event, I don't believe the OMFF has yet announced its Winners....so I look forward to hearing of your self-elimination or to your acceptance speech(Post) should you win, which is unlikely. [Still lots of time to Pull Out, so to speak, before the nasty deed has been consummated.]
P.S.

I did not go on and on, mate. I simply asked Ysidor (Nuk3m) what competition he was referring to.
You could have said simply, "The OMFF competition"...End of discussion. It was
you who went off on a rant about competitions, and forums, and offenses against your artistic rights, and your disdain for praise, etc etc etc.
I just asked the
very simple question: "
What competition?"

NOW this thread entitled quite inaccurately "The BEST IL2 Movie Yet" can, and should, be closed. It is simply untrue, as I am sure
you, of all people, would agree.

I absolutely give up, this has nothing to do with being pompous.... it's the opposite, I'm just not remotely interested in forwarding the IL-2 movie genre, machinima, representing flight sim movies, virtual worlds, blah, blah, which is what your mission in life seems to be for reasons I'll never understand and seem to have set yourself up as some kind of self appointed authority ( nice retrospective post editing BTW)
If you think not enthusing about those things is pompous, fine. You should also be aware as someone who promoted this OMFF thing that it's over and all of the IL-2 movies entered in it came last.
In contrast, after contacting 3 squadron RAAF assoc last year to use photos from their site in the movie they asked to see the finished product and then showed to some of the squadron's surviving veterans and current Hornet pilots, kind of more interesting to me but probably not to you.
I try to make movies firstly for my own amusement from an interest in WWII...a hobby if you like from a lifelong interest in WWII, secondly as a tribute, thats it. I have no interest in this whole bloody machinima advancement thing that you are into and getting IL-2 movies represented in the same, what dont you understand about that? do I not have a choice? and yes, can a moderator lock this or delete it (sorry Badger)
