@Jaypack
Those screens don't look right to me. Looks like the game is using the greyscale bumph water files instead of the blue channel in the normal maps. I only changed the normal maps. Still, if you like the way it looks on Water=2 then no harm done. 8)

I can't wait to try it. 8800 GTS water=2 - what do you think? should I expect any FPS drop?
If yes, I'll reset it to 1. As far as I understand this modded water 1 looks better than the stock water 2, right?

On my test, this mod improves the water aspect over all in low levels of water (Nividia card). With water "0" I see a huge improvement in quality.
On higher levels, I think is not so obvious.
@OLC: Thank you mate. I like a lot this mod. In fact, I was waiting for it since several months ago.
Regards.

A note on the FPS:
I did some more tests and this time I focused on increasing the VRAM usage. My video card has only 256Mb of VRAM, so by using hirez textures and increasing AA and AAA both to 6X I can max out my VRAM and make the game stutter. At that point, enabling my mod does cause a slight framerate drop because my water normal map textures are 16Mb in size, whereas the stock textures are only 4Mb, and from what I've read it seems that normal maps are not usually compressed in video games.
So if you're already very close to your VRAM limit then this mod can hurt your FPS a little. Otherwise, no FPS drop.

I did some more testing and found another mod was causing the fps hit, this works fine in nvidia with water=4 and perfect settings.
looks good. 8)

I have bugs with Water=1, Shadwos flashes faster is very ugly (Shdows bug with, Mountain, Island, Ground), now its ok with Water=0

hmm to late to post?
updated,
my current ati (hd4870/1gig) will run great on everythign on 3- including water, setting 4- theres not a dffierence
my previous card, Nvidia512mb7600gs- same thing

I've made a new version of the mod, V2, which has the exact same VRAM requirements as the stock water (instead of requiring 4x the VRAM, as in V1). It looks nicer too, IMO.
See post #1 for a DL link.

Thanks
I've added another link (
