Korea, even if not exactly WWII is still OK because it belongs to the same era. (Notice that i wrote "WWII era" in my previous post, not "WWII".) Most of the weapons systems used in Korea were indeed of WWII vintage, with a few new addons such as jet fighters. Generally speaking, we're still in the same ballpark.

Same goes for 1930's stuff, like Spanish Civil War, or the Sino-Japanese War - while not exactly WWII they are still close enough. Therefore it is comparatively easy to make such mods "work" within the Il-2 context.

The Canvass Wings WWI project will, as far as i understand, be more akin to a separate standalone game utilizing the Il-2 engine than a set of additional maps and planes to the "main" Il-2 game. Therefore it cannot be compared to adding single planes outside the time scope of the game. But if someone wishes to develop a similar package featuring some different era (perhaps Vietnam, or even more modern) - by all means go ahead.

To make such mods feasible they need the whole package - other planes from the same time period, correct maps and ground vehicles for targets. Otherwise they make no sense - what's the point flying a say MiG-25 versus Spitfires and 109's? Or even 262's or Sabres?

Your information is correct. Sorry if it seemed I was focusing on that part. My intent was to disscuss the harsh responses some get to questions reguarding what if planes. To me there is never a reason to do so. We're all grown men and need to act as such. To extend a hand"voice" in kindness is better than to raise a fist"voice" in anger.

Oh look! a penny. Back on topic. Big Grin
