The problem is that you cannot get HDR hack working in OpenGL mode (I think you already knew that). Only in DirectX. And, water=4 (or whatever other value) is impossible to get in DirectX.

In summary: You cannot get HDR in OpenGL, but you need to run game in this mode to get perfect water. You have to choose. My decission is clear: I prefer perfect mode without HDR than HDR in excellent mode.

Regards.

I can't run Water 4 in opengl because I have ATI.. I wish they just had a program that applied bloom over the top to whatever program you are running.

I have an ATI. From what I've heard, ATI water=2 is the same as nvidia water=4 but someone correct me if I'm wrong :-? Anyway, I use water=2 and do get the white-caps on the waves when the weather gets worse Wink

Water and Nvidia v ATI - Dutch_851 - 17.02.2010

I've just done a lot of research on this one (see 'More Water Problems' topic on M4T tech help).
Even tho nvidia water=4 is supposedly the same as ATI water=2, reflections, waves and whitecaps look better with ATI, IMHO.
Plus I don't get a huge drop in frame rate with ATI w=2, whereas I do with nvidia w=4.

Water=5 doesn't exist.
Yes, it does exist...but you have to go outdoors to get it.

That's more realistic than the water outside...

use openGL and attempt stencil buffer.

- WCD88 - 13.03.2010

Yea thats what i thought at first, but it was already set to OpenGl and stencil buffer. i (unfortunatly) have vista. could that be part of it?

I have Vista with no problems. What is your graphics card?

- Guest - 14.03.2010

If you install Il-2 on Vista to the dfault location you can't edit the files in the game.

You'll have to move your Il-2 game to another location i'm afraid Wink

- KG64_Cnopicilin - 14.03.2010

And edit the registry. It runs without anything in the registry but to have as few problems as possible you should edit it. If you're not familiar with registry editor leave the registry as it is.
