The STD folder is placed within the MODS folder.
If you do not have the MODS folder, you must first create within the folder HSFX.

This is done to add to HSFX new mods
Here I leave the tutorial {HVY-E}Jinxx:

Re: Adding new aircraft to HSFX - NIGHTFIGHTER - 28.08.2010

Hi folks, tried to install the Lanc today with no joy. So followed all the steps and it still CTD at 60%, so created a mod file got a new STD download and buttons file from SAS, and still no joy. I then noticed that the same files that were in the STD are also present in the File folder in the game, so knowing you cant have 2 of something i removed the one's in the file folder.
this then lead to a russian language version and ive ended up wiping out IL-2 and doing a re-install.
There must be an easier way of installing a new Aircraft !!!!

No, you must not remove any folders, although they are in the game files and folder STD folder.

60 % crashes are caused by a broken chain of reference between your games air.ini file, the contents of your mods folder, and your buttons file.

Here you have more detailed information:

Yep, thats one thing ive lean't about this forum "when the gods speak you take notice" which is why when i followed the prosscess step by step and it went wrong i followed the link on SAS which youv'r posted above 414 and it installed fine after getting a new button file but of course it changed everything into russian. Anyway im going to try installing things with JSGME and ill let you know how things go.

Re: Adding new aircraft to HSFX - ton414 - 29.08.2010

Switching to the russian language can be because it has been modified or deleted the i18n folder.

Re: Adding new aircraft to HSFX - NIGHTFIGHTER - 30.08.2010

Just when you get to the point of throwing the computer then yourself out of the window, yes i cracked it. And to my utter shock it wasn't my fault! after installing New Buttons File, new mods folder, STD folder, and still it crashed at 60%. Then right at the end of the idiots guide to installing aircraft on SAS it said "if all else fails check the aircraft file you are trying to install"
because sometimes Winzip loses files, and guess what Yes that was my problem, Not all of the Lancaster had been sent to the Mods folder.
So yes after 2 days and god knows how many trys ive now got my Lanc installed......Many thanks to all who tried to help me over this problem..Gary

Re: Adding new aircraft to HSFX - razor1uk - 04.10.2010

Just wondering if the above linked STD file & the 'Latest Buttons' are compatable with HSFX 4 ?; since HSFX 4 seems to have a different layout to what I am gathering from the relevant posts relating to 4.1/4.11 & 4.2, and mo own obsevations at looking in my HSFX 4 versioned IL2 1946.

Re: Adding new aircraft to HSFX - ton414 - 05.10.2010

The STD file & the 'Latest Buttons' if are compatable with HSFX 4.1/4.11.
But they are for users of MODS file.

Re: Adding new aircraft to HSFX - skyomish - 05.10.2010

The BEST way to make a STD file for your MODS folder is very easy and to insure it works.
First in the mods folder you make.
Make a new folder called STD with all caps.
Open your game folder and near the top you will see and folder called " FILES"
inside that are three files called ----[ com-gui-!18n]-----
Copy and paste these to your new STD folder. DONE
DONT MOVE THESE FILE COPY ONLY.
I tries a backup copy from my UP install in to my HSFX and big time crash.
So if you make your own FROM the game you are using at the time your good.

I am attempting to add the Ki-44-II-Ko 'Shoki' (mostly by JapanCat, with contributions from TK team & the SAS/AAS forum). The pic above shows my default IL-2 directory - with picto-questions. I have been boiling my brain cross checking related installation info from both SAS & AAS, and have quite probably missed something so stupid, that I look like a right piece of pine of 40"x6"x1" dimmensions (e.g; a plank).

Also missed off another question, but before that, after reading the immediately above post; which might be part of, it since I tried the 'STD' file I requested to no avail AFAIK I will try that copy & pasting idea later when I'm home.

...Which location of air.ini file do I need to mod to quadruple check, is it in the same sub folder group as the previous post suggested - In MODS, Files, within the HSFX Tools & Readmes or somewhere else?

I was pulling my hair out (metaphorically) with all sorts of info in front of me. Sometimes its hard to see the wood for the trees / to so the tree for the forest.
I respectfully offer thanks and virtual pints to the knowledgable
Thanks, Kittos, Arigatto, Danke, Tag etc
P.S. the file title STD means... serious troubled developers, some technical discrepancy, ships take damage, standard template deployment....

Re: Adding new aircraft to HSFX - 8FS_Bulau - 06.10.2010

You've placed the MODS folder in the wrong location. You have it, now, in the "HSFX V4 Tools and Read mes" folder.

The MODS folder needs to be located in the root game folder, "IL-2 Sturmovik 1946".

Look at how the folders are indented in the Explorer window...it indicates how some folders are "nested" inside others.

After that is fixed, you would edit only the .ini files in the MODS folder...never touch anything in the Files folder.

Re: Adding new aircraft to HSFX - razor1uk - 06.10.2010

I have don't mean to be read as rude, belive me I don't type my reply to intend this.
I haven't yet created any Mods or MODS folders yet, what there is, is as it has been iinstalled after installing HSFX 4.1. except for the 'Orignials' folder which is a leftover from the user profile & controls and conf.ini backups I made.
I have read conflicting posts about a Mods and a MODS folder, and somewhere a ~Mods folder too. I think I've been reading too many saved php pages offline from both AAS & SAS Forums and have got the wrong on of many or the same stick(s).

Ok, cut the Mods folder from the/my HSFX install to main folder. Copy over the my own original/personal game files relating to the STD contents, to a STD Folder lacated in ...\IL-2 Sturmovik 1946\Mods, and ONLY edit the contained air.ini, the plane.ru, weapon.ru & add the relevant 'buttons' files in their respective locations within the newly created STD Folder? And make sure the New Aircraft is also placed in the Mods folder located in the main game folder.
