But I think the realease of CK will be a question of years. I think Il-2 will enter terrains we didnt even know of for know. I think the early WW2 will take some special role also... because SCW, Poland or whatever are just to interesting to leave them uncomplete. All in all this game will develope I hope.
I'm with you on the early war days and the days of the BIplanes.
I wish more would work with them because I find them a bunch of fun
to fly.

Um, that's why we have Canvas Knights under development and consideration... :-P
Until CK shows up WHY not use what we have????????????
What has it been two years ?

Re: [Discussion] IL-2 in a few years - Triad773 - 23.09.2010

I saw a guy import something from Halo recently. By itself it is limited (except, maybe against the Lerch or Spit 25 lb Wink ) but imagine if other sci-fi stuff were added, enough to eventually be a 'pack' to download? Having recently messed with a racing sim called rFactor, that game has had a good roadmap with mods. They have so many they broke them down into specialized installs (I tried a couple of mod packs on one install-- it gets messy fast, to me anyway).

So we have the great work being done on the Canvas Knights project, Sani and others cranking up some jets, helos, ships,--Man! It is a feast Big Grin I could see maybe someone having enough sci-fi stuff to put together some day. I'd probably d/l and at least try it too.

I remember a game called Echelon I played for a while. It was fun but far out. http://www.gamershell.com/pc/echelon/screenshots.html

I could see IL-2 having a set of terrestrial space niche some time if the sci-fi stuff continues Tongue

While I tend toward the historical myself, it's great to see so much imagination at work here ;dd

Cheers

Triad

One thought I'd like to add to my previous post: if modding goes on at the speed it has gone the past two years, reminescing the problems, obstacles and confusion
there was at times (not too few) and taking into consideration the size of mod packs have grown up to, how large UP X.0 and HSFX X.0 and/or a combo would be in two years?
Or how big will be the diversity between users, which could be a major nag even nowadays: "... I've got HSFX 4.1 and you?... I got UP2.01, and the thisandthatmod..."
How many copies, differently modded, each between 10-20GB have to be stored on your HD, to be able to join the servers you like?

SOW won't be coming anytime soon. Hopefully with "4.10m" coming up, there will be a new, clearer shape of things to come. (hopehopehopehopehopehope)

Shes got a couple of years left in her

With more fast jets in the works and a number of WWI and Between the wars biplanes in the works there will be plenty of new opportunities for people to expand their install a few more gigs

I would like to faster than the speed of sound. Dogfight between a F-15 and a Bf-109 would be fun.
2012, with me more than likely entering NROTC(Marine option), and college, afterward the military, I probably will not have very much time!
Considering that will be four years of college and then real life, probably it'll come to where I won't be doing much of anything computer wise.
But, I would like to see Air Air, Air Ground, Ground Air, Air Ship missiles if they ever came out with such. I know people say "well play Lock-On then", which I have, but iL-2 is so much more wildly popular and is much more easy to make custom missions.

Re: [Discussion] IL-2 in a few years - RadPig94 - 29.09.2010

shoot, i'd say we finally made a full world and actual detailed cities with working people and street lights and actual indoors and driving and walking and shooting...

IL-2/Grand theft auto/driv3r/Flightgear/call of duty: the video game

Re: [Discussion] IL-2 in a few years - Razorback_Pilot - 30.09.2010

for me that would be Il-2/Battlefield 2/Arma 2/ X-Plane9(soon 10)/Trainz 2006/BF1942/BFV
GTA4 I don't have but have played and it is awesome.

Re: [Discussion] IL-2 in a few years - Razorback_Pilot - 30.09.2010

yeah one thing I do like about flightgear is that it's free and you can download the scenery you want. plus you bounce when you hit the ground. unlike Il-2 where you explode
Hmm, should mention MW2, Arma2 Op. Arrowhead, few BF2 mods, MS Train Sim, Ship Sim 08, all the old MoHs for PC.
Few others, but really I'm a little well rounded in the sim/combat realm. Maybe one day we'll be able to drive vehicles in Il-2 too, which I more than likely will jump screaming with excitement.

another good thing is that while flying there's an option to download scenery automatically, and fly anywhere in the world, hell I've even started from the smallest airport that was next to my house in an F-15, i still remember that airport ID: KATS... makes me want to get another computer ASAP so i can get back in action. 8)

Re: [Discussion] IL-2 in a few years - KG64_Cnopicilin - 02.10.2010

I would love to see Il-2 in 3 different editions; Canvas knights for WW1, the default modded for WW2 and a 'jets' version for the F-22 and Moon Rocket people.
