Re: America's Ace of Aces Contest $300 in prizes - Hairog - 11.03.2011
My main purpose in holding this contest is to gather tracks of "Bong" flying in combat and recording "his" victories through you flying my recreations of his missions.
The best way to do this is to take short ntrk of your missions. I really don't need to see you flying around during times of little or no action. With this in mind I offer you a tip in how to turn on and off your recording.
Go to controls and scroll down and find "Quick/Start save track" and make a keyboard command to turn on and off your recording. I suggest that you turn on you camera when the enemy is spotted and not before to save me time and yourself disk space. This method turns on and off your recordings and each time you turn it on and off there will be a new movie. Send them all and just tell me which ones are for which mission.
Thanks and check six.

I have put together a little video to help promote the contest and to give you some idea of what the final product will be.
You can view it here.

It's just so sad that Major Richard Bong story is not known and his story basically forgotten. His combat career is second to none yet not many know his name. He was the best and will always be the best.
You shouldn't forget something like that IMHO. So this is just my way of trying to rectify the situation.
Come on and join the fun for a good cause.

Hairog,
Small question as to realism for this campaign.
Do we need to use the "realistic navigation" option in 4.10.
The reason I ask this is because the missions don't have any beacons.
This makes the navigation system in the P38 pretty much useless for following waypoints.
S!

No you don't have to use the new realistic navigation. I am interested in combat footage and a fair contest. I don't care where you land just that you land in your own territory and without dying. I just want to be sure that combat damage doesn't kill you so be careful.
Welcome to the contest and keep those tracks and videos coming.

For this to work I need your video tracks. For some reason all my regular contestants are not submitting them. I haven't got any for 3 weeks now. Let's get flying boys. I need those videos.
Here is an example of what I will be doing with your videos.

We have a contestant who finished the campaign alive! Congratulations. Hopefully more will follow along with their tracks.
I need more video tracks!
