So far I'm just not that impressed with CoD.
After years of delays, promises etc. Here's what we have:
1. A game that has considerable bugs that make it pretty much unplayable for all but a few.
2. More delays for the US market.
3. The addition of a filter that pretty much kills the game.
So far, I've seen no reason to go out and get this game. There is nothing in it that we don't have in IL-2 other than the new graphics.
In fact, I believe it was I that said that the game looked like it was beginning to get rushed and that if it was released this year, it would be on par with the first release of Battlecruiser 3000.
A bug infested almost unplayable first release and then patches galore. That is if they just don't also do like BC 3000 did and just pull it, re-work and then re-release it later.

@ Jambo;
How is off line game play with many planes in game like lets say 50 planes
With the filter turned off what kind of FPS do you get and at what settings?
I ask this as I seen a video today with many planes in off line game
And it was a slid show even at very low settings.
Here is the video;

Well, Newt
There are wide spread reports on many websites that even monster PCs are having a hard time with CoD.
Looking on the bright side, in about 2 - 3 years PCs will gain on the technology at last!

That might be the new FSX, it takes 5 years to be playable.

Morning Gents,
hem, just let me say... I'm still at the point to find out how to start a Me-109 properly ....
But thats just between you and me, right?
I started a QM - it's called a bit different now - but you get the point.
I choose a Dogfight over Calais and changed the numbers of planes to the limit:
i.e.: 30 Blenheim I, 12 Spitfire 1a, versus 8 Bf-110C4 and 8 Bf-109E3
so we're talking about 58 Planes.
My setting are between High and Middle - no low! My Monitor resolution is 1,900 * 1,200
No Antialiasing. Grass etc.. on
I've got a Hexacore with 12GB (fast) RAM and a nVidia 580.... and a few other things.. so my Computer is quite fast....
Above the Ocean or the Canal I've got between 30 (lowest) and over 105 (highest) FPS - an average around ~45 to be on the safe side.
Over land the FPS drops dramatically - depending where you're flying, i.e. over cities, country side and so on - I had between 9 (lowest) and 55 (highest) an average of around 25-30 FPS...
Which is just enough - if there wouldn't be these jams(?) (please help me with the right word)...
Of my 12GB only around 1-1,5GB were used by CoD. Of my 12 CPU's - only 1 (one) is really used and not even to a 100%!
hock:
Tried everything I could - to no avail!
There's a lot to find out as well - there should be a good manual for all the planes! How to start and treat an Engine, and so on!
The capabilities of changing and tuning your Graphics, Controls, Joystick etc.. are enormous... but you have to find out "what and where...."
This morning when I flew this Quick Mission - a German Pilot called his English Opponent a Nazi..
hock:
Which genius wrote this script?
So - there is a lot to do! And I'm sure they're doing a lot! They always did! - Oleg and his Team!
Just give them a chance and a bit time.....
They changed this Epilepsy-filter really fast from a "must" - to an "option". I'm quite confident they will do the rest as well!
CoD itself looks terrific, just sit in a Messerschmitt or a Spitfire or a Blenheim and try to get this blo... engine to start...! 8)

Re: F6's Opinion of COD - Newt - 05.04.2011
Fireskull, ..I'm afraid that you are dead right about that bro.. aaargh
Jambo, I think the problem is it doesn't use ..or restrict itself using all sources, CPU's, GPU's and RAM
got my sli working but its no better than a single card, cause it uses only half of each card, that
explaines why the fps is the same.
I know I need to be patient but frustration is rising, sry Oleg

Hi,
Well, as I wrote in another thread, I believe that 1C Company is pressed to get money for their huge investment and years of postponed release dates.
CASH!! Big, fat, greedy - CASH!!!
They would have been better to spend more time in beta while in the Russian market before all else.
Rise of Flight and Canvas Knights will be glad to fill the vacuum, wouldn't you think?

Totally agree here.

Something else I've just noticed about CoD......
Oleg and crew failed to learn from the past 12yrs of IL-2 and are still using sub par sounds.
Engines still sound like lawnmowers and the .30's that I've heard so far sound more like MG-42's rather than Browning .30 Cal MG's.
And before some smart alec chimes in....
YES, I've heard and or fired both LIVE. They sound NOTHING alike.

Absolutely true!
That - is the most annoying part at all, in my opinion!
Maybe copyright issues?
I don't know - but I'm convinced that they're a lot of people around, all who would gladly helped Oleg and his Team with this....
