My favourite aircraft is the P-38, however, having seen the wonderful cockpit repaints for other fighters, the interior looks a liite drab now. I wonder if it is possible to use some of the existing arwork to give this one a make over?

Just to add that I uploaded and installed the Mosie cockpit this weekend and it is a really first rate piece of work... thank you. Big Grin

There is one He111 cockpit

He 111 original Textures - der-blaue-max - 10.10.2008

Hallo, i have uploaded all original il-2 He 111 Textures as usable TGA Files:

http://rapidshare.com/files/152627152/H ... n.rar.html

This are the original Files but changed to work on them. Maybee there is someone, who can make a repaint on them.

I think too, that the He111 is an important Plane whith the oldest textures.

I am Buildin a House, so I have no time to work on it, but I hope there is someone, who
has some Time for a little repaint. Please PLease

I'm interesting in taking a stab at repainting some planes, I think some of the older russian stuff that came with the original IL-2 could use some work..

Sorry for lack of finding out where to post this, I am a graphic designer and modder for other sims.. I would love to try some texture editing but I don't know what program to use to convert the files. I extracted some files from the MiG-3.. the .mat and .mesh files, I am guessing the cockpit textures are in the .mat ones? Is there a .mat to tga converter or something?

Sorry for posting this here, I didn't know where to post this. If someone could reply to me or send me a private message I would appreciate it!

Hi, and welcome .....

To access files and to make them editable you'll need two applications :

1 SFS extractor

viewtopic.php?t=2268

plus latest filelist.txt for it :

(The link is inoperative)

- with this you can extract all necessary files ( from fb_3doXX.SFS / game root)
- simply load one by one fb_3doXX.SFS file and extract it into same temp folder
- when all is done you should have all cockpit files located in :

"your temp folder"\3do\cockpit"desired plane"\

2 Tga Converter

(The link is inoperative)

- it converts game's un-editable tga files into editable ( P Shop..PSP ....Gimp...)
- load one by one tga file from desired cockpit folder and save them to temp folder
---------------

Mod structure :

MODS"whatever you like"\3do\cockpit"desired plane"

fly_zo, I thank you for your patience and your kindness. I was trying to open the mat files, and they were in the planes folder not the cockpit folder. I am now opening cockpit textures and tinkering around with them. Man is the front cockpit panel in the MiG small! I am pretty busy with Halloween stuff, but I should get a good kickin on some editing in the next few months. Im just gonna mess around and see what we can do!

I thank you again. Smile

russian cockpits - Rowddy - 15.10.2008

Dear modders is it also possible to make cockpits from other planes besides German and some anglo/american planes like for a russian MIG??? The Migs must have the most ugly cockpit in the game and being a (most of the time) russian pilot it would be nice to look at something nice once in a while too.
maybe there is a reason for not having russian cockpits i don't know i'm unfortunally not a modder myself but it would be something completly different if it could be done and i'm sure it would make a lot of allied pilots very happy.

Looking forward to your response.

Did you say MiG? 8)

Apparently the MiG cockpit came in black as well as the white color. But if you want it to look like the original there will be a white one as well. The template I created allowes for easy color editing to any shade I want just by using the color dropper.

This is just a start and I have a long way to go, but hopefully this will give you an idea of what is to follow!

- Rowddy - 16.10.2008

oh that's so cool i can't wait  many thanks m8 for this project.

- Bee - 17.10.2008

If anyone can upload Freddy's P-51 cockpit repaint without any of the abhorrent FM changes or other foolishness, that would be great. This pony-driver could use a bit of a spruce up in the front office.

Edit: Mods, please delete this if I've overstepped the mark by mentioning this. :?
