I'm the LAST person you should ask about that one....
After more than 4yrs of false starts, 1 video, and a bunch of supposed screen shots we still have not seen a Beta let alone an Alpha version of the game.
I just don't see how they can meet their deadline by the end of this year. :-?

I bet they don't, if they hurry it will not be as high quality as it should be.

Two videos, you sceptic

There was the Spitfire video and the bomber attack video.

Oleg has said he doesn't use the conventional Alpha and Beta stages of development, and I think you have the two stages mixed up anyway, the Alpha build precedes the Beta build.

The reason for the pictures instead of videos is that the team is very small, I think it is less than 20 people, and its a lot more work to make a good video than post a couple of screenshots, as anyone who makes or tries to make movies from Il2 will be able to tell you (I'm very much in the second category).

As far as when the game itself could be released, I don't really know. From what can be seen in the screenshots and what Oleg and Luthier have been saying, the game seems more or less complete as far as aircraft and their functionality goes, and the team is now working on effects, pilot animations and populating the map. The team may or may not still be working on AI and online code, although this would likely just be tweaks now. Anyway, effects, pilot animations and map population are all things that would take place near the end of a games development cycle, which would make me think the game is only a couple of months from completion.

If you were asking for an estimated release date, I would say late this year or early next year.

Re: BoB releasing date .... - Fireskull - 06.10.2010

Hi,

Yesterday I got confirmation that Storm of War: Battle of Britain is in final testing stage.

Maddox and Chevchenko are exploring the possibilities for expanding publication over what it was for IL-2. This means more distribution and available to more countries, if all goes well.

Announcement for distribution will come as soon as they agree on a contract.

Hi, genbrien

Let's just remember that we Administrators of major IL-2 websites sometimes have unique channels available to us and that's all I'll say about that. Smile

Seeing that Oleg Maddox has said (or implied) much the same things on the 1C:Maddox forum, I don't think these 'unique channels' are giving much away...

Hi, Shea

They have some "bugs" to eliminate. By this, I mean just a few things. How long to test them into oblivion? ... Even Oleg won't venture a guess.

WhoDatNotSayin, it's closer than Oleg is saying in his latest interview.

The way things go with sims, it could be weeks or months, technically speaking. Chevchenko stated recently that 1C is committed to releasing a quality product with no known bugs. He reiterated a commitment to pull all the stops to get this released this Autumn.

If terrorists tortured me and forced me to estimate, I would say that they will have the bugs solved in a few weeks. I hope that nobody gets any ideas and abducts me!

I read your words, oh my master, but forgive me for still being sceptical... [Image: 128.gif]

Re: BoB releasing date .... - Fireskull - 06.10.2010

BoB is a full blown sim in the studio. All the features are in place - no more content to be added for the Premier.

Well then let's hope they release the minimum sys requirements soon, so some of us can look for new rigs right away
and not three days before X-Mas, when the shops are overcrowded... :Smile)
