Best example could be the Tempest/Typhoon, which was notoriously loud inside.
The same goes to quite alot of others.
The whole idea of this soundmod is to simulate what a pilot would hear with his helmet on. Cockpit were noisy, pilots were cautious.
Own aircraft sounds only when airborne, not too loud, little treble, much bass. Explosions only very near and faint, but louder impact. Windnoise that tells you what speed you're flying (high or low), you cetainly now know when your cockpit is open, and so on.... it is by no mean perfect, but in many aspects much much better than Oleg's. The few glitches one still finds were left mostly because author is tired after one year's work, please bear with those and take some time to find all the plusses before the minusses turn you off, i'm sure a warm welcome will help get things extra polished in the future.
Well, as you say; cockpits were noisy, pilots were cautious.
Indeed, they were cautious, but I find it hard to believe, that for that era (1938-1946), the methods of sound-damping where so great, that you almost cannot hear a 1200+ HP engine inside your cockpit, only a few inches away from your feet, thundering at full power..
So, in that regard, i'd like to have my in-cockpit engine volumes just a littlebit louder - also because the contrast between internal and external sounds is just huge with this mod.
And if there is a way to adjust this, I'd love to hear about it. Just - as you say - to get things extra polished in the future.
rollnloop Wrote:My two eurocents... been a betatester for a year, so of course i'm biased, don't throw it at me please
Naah, i'm not throwing it at you
I'm highly aware that a mod of this magnitude has been extremely time consuming, and that i've been nitpicking on so much hard work.
I think it'll be a debate without end, just as many have been in the IL2 world. Even if my point is valid or not.
But in the end, all I can speak of, is an enormous amount of gratitude for bringing up the time and patience to deliver us such a highly anticipated gem. 8)

Internal volume seems to vary quite a bit depending on both hardware, software and OS. Hopefully Tiger will give us some hints to adjust things, i knew how to in earlier versions but with the latest features it became quite unintuitive :-?
For the moment the indication he gave on this subject is to play with sound engine entries in conf.ini, probably SoundMode= and see if any improvement. I have some problems with beaufighters' weak in-cockpit sounds myself.

This is How I did my JSGME Set-up for UP 2.0
Step 1: I extracted the UV2 Final folder to the
jsgmemods folder.
Step 2: I copied my conf.ini to the
jsgmemods/UV2 Final folder and made the neccessary changes.
Step 3: I installed the WinblowFix mod to
jsgmemods/UV2 Final/Mods folder.
Now all I have to do is enable UV2 Final using JSGME to get Tiger's sounds. So far I've not had any troubles, all works great. To be CRT2 compliant, all I have to do is Disable in JSGME.

Sorry, Newy, you use tiger's buttons in the folder jsgmemods UV2Final(file+mods+buttons+conf.ini modded)?Thank's

Once you have the two main folders extracted "files" and "mods", put them in a parent directory called "whateveryouwant".
Put then the "whateveryouwant" folder in ..........\yourmainil2folder\jsgmemods.
Activate via jsgme as last entry.
Sorry but I'm a bit of a retard at this..can you go more in depth with this so i can copy how you did it exactly..thx heaps!

New buttons based upon SAS's 4.2 (fixes P38 Early bug)

To those who get the "Paratrooper Russia etc.." bug like I had, check you don't have Hades's new il2fb.exe, revert back to the original .exe, that did it for me ...
EDIT :
Contrary to what I wrote this new buttons is not based upon SAS's 4.2
I re-posted what a C6 member wrote there, but CirX from SAS has just warned me that he has nothing to do with this buttons.
My public apologies to you and CirX at SAS

I have the most recent version of (IL-2 4.09m) and (HSFX 4.1) and I tried this and it worked flawlessly easily.
I created a folder titled "Tiger_33 sounds", then placed the "files" folder and "mods" folder within it. I then placed the "Tiger_33 sounds" folder inside the "jsgmemods" folder.
I then opened JSGME.EXE from my destop icon and loaded it to the active side.
My active mods are in this order:
1. HSFX History mod
2. Perfect Map Textures
3. Tiger_33 sounds
The combined visuals and sounds made this an entirely new game for me. No problems on or offline so far.
Thanks for the heads-up on the installation procedure.

Hum........exactly what i get but not for all the maps.......... :-?
I get the message with Kyushu. So can't work on the map AND use in the same time Tiger sound mod V2 as new il2fb.exe is essential for populating big map.
Hope a patch will be released soon for that.
- FZ - 21.01.2010
I hope so too, I PMed HaDeS about that, I hope he can do something because his new il2fb.exe is so good when flying over big maps ....

I clarify that Buttons that you find on
this post is made on the basis of Buttons SaS 4.2
but only with regard to the list of the aircrafts which it contains, it is made at first for the users of the pack C6.
The Models of flights are always those whom you had in the pack C6 1.2.
Those novelties taken out recently on SaS do not change either.
The only changes concern the various appeals of sounds for the UV2.
We are trying, in association with the team of SaS, to seeing to it that the UV2 is compatible 100 % with the other packs UP 2.0 and HSFX as regards the models of flights, so that you can join Online the servers such as Spits vs 109 MOD.
Moreover I made an attempt this morning on this one which turned out decisive

Ok, I tried the sound mod and I can say that it's great apart from the flyby part. It's ok sometimes BUT if I bring the plane round for another pass without pressing f3 again, the plane has no sound. I don't know but can you like put in the actual plane sound right after the flyby sound so that the sound will sort of continue? Or maybe is this a problem that only I am experiencing? Apart from that the mod is great
- Claymore - 22.01.2010
You are not alone with this "problem", Tiger hasn't found yet the way to solve this... may be one day :?

This limitation is clearly stated in the readme, did you read it ?
Now if you want original flyby sound (to each his own taste after all), just disable the "mods" folder of UV2(delete it).
