I've done lots of research on flight uniforms and gear from WWII and I've only seen double parachutes, (seat type+back type), worn by late War US pilots in the Pacific theatre.

Only if you were in the US forces.. Reserve chutes were not generic to all service personel of differeing countries.. For example, British Airborne personel did not jump with a reserve parachute until well after WWII.
