Quote:Can this effect be applied to cockpits also?
For outer canopy yes, but for inner cockpit it can
- Guest - 08.12.2007
Quote:You mentioned cockpit. Can you actualy take cockpit texture, for example Me109 G2, open it with photoshop, and after makeup and edit place it back in game?
Pozdrav sa Karaburme Avalo.
A sto ne bi moglo
postoji vec ceo topik o tome, nije bas lako al uz malo

Of course, there is topic about that. It’s not so easy but it can be done.
I am making Hurricane cockpit. I guess it will be ready for new years eve.

One sugestion gents.
When playing with this, test the settings during night as well.
I was playing with this few weeks ago and I ended up with a nice glowing Mig-9
During the day was just awesome but at night.........l

And we already have some mod about this, please do download it and try. C & C are welcome

So... does this turn aircraft at night into glowing UFO's, or something from a B-Grade Ghost film?
The only thing stopping me is the possibility of that - otherwise it looks very nice Avala - well done.

I've tried it and I like it.
A fantastic improvement overall and very subtlely done (it would be easy to overdo this effect).
There are two minor niggles, one of which is mentioned above. At night I find the canopies look unrealistic as they tend to glow - almost as though there is a light source inside the cockpit:
The other thing I noticed is that some of the Mat files used by Mat Manager look too shiny with this mod. In particular, RAF grey lettering. I think this is because Aces used what he called 'McWolf's lighting parameters' to alter transparency and specularity on his new Mats to make them look like part of the skin. Whatever he did seems to be overlaid by the global change in specularity caused by this mod, so some of the Mat markings look slightly odd now - a little too reflective, almost as though they are cut from aluminium foil. This is only a problem with pale grey markings I think.
This could be solved by some clever person editing the Mat Manager files as necessary, I suppose.
Anyway, the above are only minor observations and I will definitely be keeping this mod as I think it adds a lot of realism overall.

No, at night planes looks very normal, no shining, no glowing, just as they used to be. Please do try it.
Here is it “official”
(The link is inoperative)
And here is it with a little more detailed “ReadMe”, same is it in “betas” section

I have noticed it too, sometimes look good and sometimes it is noticeably. Well I made a compromise for day use,Mine basic though was more “life-like” But can be fixed and most probably will be.

I didn’t know that, maybe because I never used mat manager, but I’ll see if it can be fixed. Thank you for mentioning Username

Avala, I have the beta version, and am quite happy with it. What is different about the official Planeshine mod?

No difference at all.
Just a slightly longer ReadMe file and that’s it. That is because I first sent to MrJoly zipped one and while waiting for him to make that installable exe file (and he is busy especially with our everyday pile of mods which he checks) I become impatient, made that little more detailed ReadMe, and make it beta. So, I am “guilty” cause of my impatience.
So that beta is just fine.

Thanks Avala. You ROCK!!

So do the cockpits "glow" at night or not? Thats what is keeping me from this. Don't want to have something that could be viewed as an unfair advantage.
