Bug report - Guest - 10.01.2008

Great mod, I just love it.
Here's a small bug; I don't even know if it's a real bug, maybe it's supposed to be that way and the difference is that it sounds wrong with jet engines sounds, but anyways - here's what I noticed.

When the landing gear goes up or down in the me-262, the jet engine sound

Fantastic! Thanks!

Hi luke, glad u like the mods. Had a listen and yes I saw what u mean. What it is, is the jet motor is a lot quieter than a piston engine allowing the gear sound to sound louder. To fix this go into the presets folder within the files folder, open the motor.jumo004.prs file with a text editor and change the [spl] value to 130. This will increase the volume of the engine bringing a more balanced volume when the gear is activated. Thankyou for your input bud.

Cheers Slipry.

One addition, il2 use simple 3d engine (even without hardware support), all object use self sound, then more further object from the cockpit then he more quiet (yes it may be same loud, but more nearest object will be more loud). And if you use me262 then gears like and cannon's more loud becouse they nearer to cockpit then the engine. Try it compare with Yak-15 and Ta-183.

Thanks for the suggestion Slipry.

I noticed that the same thing actually happens with all planes: when the landing gear sound is played, engine sound goes down. I don't know why but it is like that, and as you say, this is more evident with jets because the engine sound is not as loud as it is on piston planes.
It is a good thing that we can set different volumes for our sound files.

More questions:
what's the range of the [spl] values? 0 to...?
Would the same trick work with any sound file?
I'm asking this because I think that gun sounds are way too low in 0.93
I there any trick to change the volume setting for _all_ the gun sounds without having to manually edit all those .prs files one by one?

Oh. Did I just hijack a thread?
I didn't mean to.
Sorry.
I'm trying to "lowjack" it back:

Hi guys, there is a fix for the jet flame which was not as visable after the mod and a change to the smoke volume at startup.

Would it be possible for you to have a go at the flaps sounds as well... I really don't like the current ssssshhhhhhhhhhh sound.

Cheers!

There is a new mod with a modified flaps sound-I just annot remember where it is though! I downloaded it a couple of days back. It is somewhere in the Beta forum though.

I know. It was me that posted it! Big Grin

I have been tweaking things over the weekend. I will post v0.2 shortly. It includes, a louder version of the flaps sound, a tweaked Hispano 2700 rpm engine sound (Yaks etc), new sounds and presets for falling bombs, the preset file for the siren and maybe some more stuff Smile

Great mods-I love the wheels up sound. Is there any way of stopping the tyre screech when landing on grass airfields?

- Guest - 26.01.2008

thx slipry
please send us your finished pack Smile

- sport02 - 10.02.2008

yes it's good mod ( flamme , smoke engine , less dust when take off, smoke of ship , sound screech of tyre ) just 1 question :

I like to move down the level of the sound of screech of tires when you are in the cockpit , how to make that ?

thank you

perhaps in futur , differents versions of the sound of screech on grass airfields and on other airfields type !!
