thnks mate, I'm glad you've find your way here
In the current situation everything can reskinned incl. buildings
In the download section you can find the extracted files

I already reskinned the worst ships:

THX for the answer :) - RaFiGer - 09.02.2008
THX vpmedia
I downloaded the ship, and there are way better than than with the original skins
And I have went through the post and yes, again it is funny how this game could be taken to a even higher point of perfection but why it takes such a way
It is really sad that these possibilities got stuck so long time.... Yes, vpmedia, you always contributed very, very good skins and missions already to the game...
But I see there is hope

Since you are probably the best texture artist out there, how about cookin up a desert conversion for some of the MTO related objects in the Sim... Afrika Korps tanks, half tracks anyone??
To get off on a tangent, I do recall some of the older IL2 ground tanks/vehicles having a default winter skin loaded each time they were generated onto a winter map?? Perhaps it might be as simple to create a desert folder with skins??

I just downloaded this from vp's site today. However, UI 1.1 already has a folder named MapMods.
The main folder for this mod is named MAPMODS...basically the same thing except for the CAPS. So, if I try to place the MAPMODS folder into the MODS folder (as per the instructions), it will ask if I want to overwrite files.
Is this the correct way to install this mod?

interesting problem
this pack was created long before the UI so it isnt really compatible I'm afraid
since I dont have the UI I cant tell whats in it, perhaps it already includes a cloud file or something but I'm pretty sure that this mod isnt included because it works only for opengl users
perhaps somebody with both packs can give us an advice
what you can try is to rename my 'mapmods' folder to 'mapmods2', to do this you need to extract to a temporary location and copy manually

I got a beta pack for the buildings (included most airfield/industrial/bunkers objects)
drop me a line to istvan at vpmedia dot eu if you want to be first beta tester

Well, that's not what I did. I took your 3do file and placed it in the MapMods folder (since there was none in there anyway). Then as a test, I took your Hawaii file and placed it in the MapMods/Maps folder, which has all the custom UI 1.1 maps.
It seemed to work fine. I opened 4.09 and even flew around Hawaii in a small test mission. I saw your custom textures and the gray concrete runways.
This is the only map I tried so far, but I didn't see any problems so far.
**EDIT: After reading your post, I tried it your way too (renamed your folder), and it also worked! Thanks.
PS-I never did get that Tempest skin you promised me back in December....

Problem - Adriorn - 14.07.2009
Hey guys, am new to adding mods to Il2, so bare with me please. I added this mod, placing it in the MODS folder. However, once I load the game, I am unable to load any map. It says unable to open .ini file for each map, regardless of which one I use. All other dozen or so mods I've used have worked fine. Am I missing something here?
Thanks.
