Wouldn't know mate. Oilfield offered way too much while still in school. Wink

Oh man, that's hard work and dangerous too Confusedhock:

Well, your medical skills might come in real handy there. People always getting dinged. You might end up saving some lives

- Beaker - 28.05.2008

BTW... Somebody's got to knock egos down? Why not the fat kid?

- Guest - 28.05.2008

Hey, that's great, Maihofer! A wonderful way to fly and a great sport. I love the high performance sailplanes and aerobatics! What are you flying, M8? Grob :?:

Hi, Aaron! Working on some more images, M8? Big Grin

- Thermikus - 29.05.2008

oulala an expert...we have a grob but i dont like her..i like the DG 101 the most =)

and of course the plane on which ive learned to fly...AsK 21 =)

very polite youre interested in =) did you fly too?

- Guest - 29.05.2008

 No expert M8. Used to go for "rides" in a high wing. Then for rides in a sleek high performance. Then for aerobatic rides. Finally the guy who ran the sailport said, "You're getting hours in, why not take the course and get your license?" Don't remember what happened but something came up and couldn't do it. Cry

Anyway, used to take the stick for normal flight, catch and ride thermals but the licensed pilot took the stick, of course, for the aerobatics. :!:

Some of these single seat high performance rides they are making in Europe today are astounding. Capable of very high speeds and high G loads comparable to a jet fiighter! I've experienced between 4 and 5 G during loops. Doesn't sound like much but it impressed me Confusedhock: Big Grin

a year ago ...i was a bit tired and maybe a little ill but i had to practise 4x full 360

- Guest - 30.05.2008

Don't feel bad, M8! The first time I tried to catch a thermal the instructor said, "When a wing kicks up, roll in that direction and make a tight, nose up turn and circle." So, that's what I did. Worked great! Caught a good one and was going up like a rocket! Then the instructor said, "Look up." There was another sailplane above us in the same thermal circling in the opposite direction. The instructor said, "Now, get out of the thermal and get back in circling in the same direction as the craft above us. We don't want any COLLISIONS!"

How are you getting up, M8? Tow plane :?:

- Thermikus - 31.05.2008

negative...i prefer a winch ....but we have a tow plane too...

- Guest - 01.06.2008

I've seen them go up by a tow from a truck!

If there's good air and you have a high performance plane you don't need much altitude to get going. I also understand that sailplanes with motors have been popular in Europe.

You riding thermals or updrafts from ridgelines, M8 :?:

- Beaker - 02.06.2008

Hah! Getting mine also, maihofer...

- Guest - 02.06.2008

That's GREAT, Aaron! Big Grin

The two of you can dogfight
