Given the lack of the 3d converted as of yet, I think there are some useful loadout fixes that could be given new planes to prevent issues with existing planes.
SBDs: Dump the wing 500lb bombs. The 250s are technically possible, but I've not ever see a pic of them. If possible, replace the wing mounted 500s with 100lb bombs (THE most typical bomb load on the wings).
US fighters: Make a version of each (certainly the earlier types of each) with no bomb load at all.
Zeros: Dump the 250kg bomb load on all of them (it was only used for kamikazes). Dump the wing bombs at least on the A6M2 and A6M3s. They simply didn't get used operationally.
This would allow servers to have "pure fighters" for the US, and would force the use of dive bombers and VTs online instead of bombed up fighters.

can I just say in reply to what spud has written that allthough for example the 250kg bomb on the A6M was probably only used for kamikaze's they did have the option of using it on other things anyway... So if we can find evidence for any plane that they could carry these things on them by the manufacturer or something then i think they should have those loadouts even if you personally think they didn't use it. You never know they might of done, not every single flight has been recorded allthough quite a lot have been inevitably some will have been missed....

That misses the whole point. Zeros with 250kg bombs (virtually never used operationally, cite even one example) means that online, you see zeros with bombs instead of Vals. Why take a slow, dedicated bomber, when you can take a faster plane with the same load, and it turns into a fighter?
Ditto with the US planes. Operationally in the pacific, F4Us were used as pure fighters for quite a while before they started hanging bombs off them. Online, since every US fighter has a HUGE bombload (bigger than the biggest IJN bomber), bombed up fighters are the norm.
Such a mod would be aimed at online play. A mission designer would have the
choice to use the stock SBD with the fantasy loadout, or the fixed one. Or the stock A6M2-21 with the fantasy 250kg bomb if he choses, or the more realistic pure fighter.

oooohhh, i see your point spud
- spud - 18.03.2008
Yeah, since the server software to control loadout on DF maps is not ideal (ZvW tried it and dumped it), it's just "take vals" or "use B-25s to bomb" because the brief says so. None the less, you are more likely to see P-38s with HVARs and 2000lbs of bombs, instead.
The ONLY way to really control load on a DF server is to force it.

great work guys, i got to say, this is super exciting for every one, and at the moment piecing planes together from others is what is happening at the moment, please try to hold your excitement by not flooding the place or making this topic a mile long with aircraft lists. Believe me, if the converter gets done then expect them all lol, its going to be the order that gets argued. While that gets under way, perhaps changes will be made to stock aircraft. but its as fragile as an egg as always, and handle with care stamped on everything.

spud,
Just gotta throw in something.
"Zeros with 250kg bombs (virtually never used operationally, cite even one example)..."
Marianas Turkey Shoot
Can't cite the exact number of A6M5s that were used as dive-bombers but they were used. It was experimental and was only done to help offset the lack of dive-bombers remaining then in the Imperial Japanese Navy. And yes, this was prior to using A6Ms as kamikazes.
But this is the only instance I know of where the Zero carried a bomb for any purpose other than kamikaze.
Was bored so had to throw that in.
- spud - 18.03.2008
Cool, hadn't read that, I stand corrected for A6M5s on at least one occasion.
None the less, in the Coral Sea in DF maps, I see bombed up A6M2s all the time. Even though I'd rather fly a F4F, I usually fly IJN to even sides, and I take a Val anyway.

Question : What will happen to people who will not install new added aircraft ? Right now all planes are in the game. So, if you didn't install them you can still see them but not fly them. But if you add Spit MK.I for example in its own slot and other player will not, what then...?
- Hans Burger - 19.03.2008
I have another question: if new plane are created, what about the FM: use a previous one or create a new one ?
- Whizz - 19.03.2008
This is truly fantastic news. Now we can have the Typhoon without losing the Tempest and so on. Well done, I'm really happy.
- ex_RAAF_Elecfitter - 19.03.2008
Certainly a Typhoon should be a high priority. And the Lanc! Last year someone asked at the zoo about new planes and when the Lancaster was mentioned the offfical reply was the game engine doesnt really support "heavy" type bombers well, yet they put the B17 and B29 in the game
Now hopefully some clever person will make a DH Vampire, which was found to be a better interceptor than the Meteor, the Meteor was very good in the ground attack role, yet the RAF stubornly refused to admit they had got the roles back to front
- duffys tavern - 19.03.2008
Maybe a SB2C Helldiver?
- Brophmeister - 19.03.2008
How about an Uhu?
- RAF_Magpie - 20.03.2008
Go away for two days - you miss a hell of a lot...
+1 for the UHU (I remember a decent thread begging someone to make this a while back - so absobloodylutly!)
+1 for the pure fighter's.
+1 for a Helldiver
+1 for someone to produce (or aquire the nearly completed) TBD1
And as another idea, - yet another clone, this time with CORRECTED (AAA OFFICIAL ONLY) FM's - removing that stupid snap stall! (If an aircraft had that sort of tendancy they NEVER would have seen heavy production  )
=====================
dFrog raises an excelent point here; what will happen with people who dont have that plane? Perhaps they simply could not connect to the server? Perhaps if the new planes are built off others still (or even just what ever tells the other players what you're flying is left in)... they will see what the base plane was.... For example;
You have the typhoon in her brand spanking new slot. You select this plane, you see it, people with the typhoon in her slot sees the typhoon - but people without only see the Tempest...? I dont know if it works like that, but theoretically, if it was a clone & modify job, they should see the base plane in her place...?
