Link to the Zalman I'm referring to:

I've used that one, it's awesome.

Hey BigSilver Big Grin

This is exactly the product I am thinking about.

(Edit after opening the case) Confusedhock:

All Fans have 3Pin connectors

Problem solved! Thx

I don't understand your post, but the Zalman you linked to is supposedly very good. I don't have it and haven't used it, but I'm sure it is excellent.

Hey Ho

I received my Fan controll. ZALMAN MFC1
Works very fine.

Hi Wilder,

If I was you I would go for a slighty bigger PSU... More like a 800... 550 is weak and even a name brand 550 might have issues over time keeping up with the pwr demand as you crank of voltages and add another graphics card...

Its not gonna take much for you to see that... Also Im not sure if your planning on running that setup in SLI... IF your thinking of OC the CPU and memory you should go more...

Alot of folks forget how important the PSU is... Theres plenty of cheap ones out there but if I were you I would get a highend one and get a 800watter...

Thats it... Your 550 may be fine, but if its not a name brand one and even so if you want to push the extra wattage wont hurt you.....

Look around but believe me 550 is not enough for the long haul... Last thing you want is an unstable system because of a weak PSU....

Goodluck with the new system..

Creeps...

PS: Heres a link for a review of the new BFG 800Watter PSU... Not a bad price either...

Hi Creepy

Thanks for the advise. But you are two weeks to late.
My system is running!

At the moment I am not thinking about OC or adding a nother hardware device.
So fare I got no problem with the setup. No instability found yet.

But you are absolutly right!

P.S.: My first attempt to OC my system ends up in a new installation of the OS

Re: Could use Overclocking hints - basic starter setup - nearmiss - 14.06.2008

I just want to share.

BigSilverHotDog helped me with building a new system. We went back and forth on this forums for several weeks. I finally ended up with the system below. You can read previous postings on this thread and see how things developed.

I made 3 basic overclocking changes described here and the quality of my IL2 is awesome.

Quote:3DMark03 is around 40,000+-, in either XP or VIsta. I haven't done much tweaking the overclock thing, except for memory to 1:1, processor to 3.2, and set my ram latency where it is recommended.

Currently, I'm using WINXP Pro SP 3 32 bit version

I do have Vista Ultimate (not installed) - thinking of a dual boot at this time.

I finally got to loading the IL2 w/THE SLOT mod last night. I've been too busy to do much of anything the past couple months. I didn't do much beyond the defaults and my system is a graphic masterpiece. The old IL2 looks like a state of the art flight sim.

Also, I truly must say "The SLOT" is probably one of the most excellent addons I've ever seen. It is very well done and thoughtfully prepared for some SUPER mission building. The Readme by FA_CHeech I would rate A++, an excellent historical document that will speed up mission building.

There are so many mods available for IL2 on this site. Whatever you do, do not passover "THE SLOT" give it a real go. Seaplane bases are a fabulous addition I've never noticed in other MODS.

If you can get BigSilverHotDog to help you with a system, pay attention, act on his suggestions if you can and he will guide your to building a system that will take you into graphics fantasy land.

Hi nermiss

Is it possible for you to run a 3dmark06.
Would be nice to compare the systems. I had 11600 Points in this Test.

My System
Quote:Mobo: GigaByte GA-EX38-DS4, Intel X38, 1.600 MHz
CPU: Q6600 and TMG i1
GPU: Nvidia 8800GTX, 768MB, 384bit
Power: 550W
Ram: 4GB KingstonHyperX
500 GB Seagate, Giga GX-01B Big Tower + 5 fans for good ventilation
+ The Fan controll recomendet by BigSilver
and no WinVista
I use a WinXP 64bit instead

I play IL2 only with one core and it works really nice (Topic: Multicore tweak guide)
