err...what does this do???

TS
The original mod does not come with all the planes folders that have gore enabled I believe.vpmedia included the files in this link, and I included them into my installer in my post above.Easy install.

ah, I see...

I thought for a moment that he meant he has created the mod for ALL planes, and has the folders for each and every plane containing the now added gore file...

No no no, there is some confusion on this. The new texture will show on ALL planes that would show the blood splatter originally. The folders with gore.mat are only to change the blood color to darker red.

This is how it works:

BloodGore\3do\planes\Texture\gore.tga
This texture replaces the old (very low res) texture.
This is the only file you need to have high res blood splatter.

BloodGore\3do\planes\\gore.mat
This file (gore.mat) replaces the blood COLOR. if you don't use any of these the color will be the default game light red.

Now i'll put a simple example:

I install the mod properly, let's imagine I am a very tidy person and I have my mods subfolders' renamed to keep track of what they do so let's say that inside my MODS folder, it looks like this:

\Cockpit reskin Bf109 by Freddy\
\Cockpit reskin Hurricane by Avala\
\Effects Clouds reskin by FlushMeister\
\Effects Destruction mod by fabianfred\
\Effects BloodGore reskin by PeterD\

That means I only have 5 mods installed, which are:
bf109 Cockpit reskin
Hurri cockpit reskin
clouds reskin
destruction mod
blood gore mod

So what this means is that Effects BloodGore reskin by peterD is just a way to LABEL the mod. You can rename that folder to whatever you want ie: "BloodGore" or "Gore" or "blood" as long as the structure inside it remains the same.

So now, the structure of my mod is as folows:

\BloodGore\

Sorry for my english
No it doesnt seem to be possible (not the mod's fault I mean)

maybe a dumb question from a noob but...... where do i get that gore.mat file ??? i seem not be able to find it.

- mecheteman - 15.08.2008

Im having a problem

Whenever i go into the conf.ini file and change the highgore to 1

i go to save and it says "the file cannot be created make sure you have the file name or location correct"

then the "save as" screen comes up so i can manually find the file to save to

i find it and click save and the message comes up again

basically i cant save the change from highgore=0 to 1

Hmm ok you may need to go into your folder options and uncheck "hide known file extensions".

To do that:
Go to My computer -> top menu bar "Tools" -> "Folder options" -> "View" -> Uncheck "hide extensions for known file types"

That should let you save it as .ini or any other extension for that matter.

This is bloody brilliant! Would it be possible to release a mod covering all aircraft at some stage?

- pozine - 13.10.2008

it would be possible without hard coding BUT
only by modifiing the damage1.tga and damage2.tga file of the aircraft that you want the blood,
Ex. add blood and oil slicks in the cockpit damage texture

mein got! blut!!! - HispanoSuiza - 11.11.2008

Nicely done!!

(I think the original in all it's feiry Cadmium Red paintball splatter is so that the player can see the effect from within the cockpit as he passes his kill.)
