That ?

Since we are on Catalina.
I wanted to bring to the attention of a factor, although irrelevant of Catalina.
In this Sim. The Catalina was created as Seaplane, and only then, only with takeoff and landing on water, but 'there' something that I do not understand the Catalina could land on the mainland also being equipped tires.
So my question is, there 'way of a cart retractable Modd for Catalina?
Thanks to all Modders, but primarily to the mythical Ranwers

well, its a start.
can you "push" it down into the nose section so its flush with the top of the nose?

Hey, I'm also looking forward to the torpedo-cat! Suggestion: why not make an historical attack version of a black cat? Background for this is what is written in the book "black cat raiders of ww2". In addition to torpedoes there was a field modified version of the Cat which had in addition to the forward turret four .50ies. Those were mounted in the nose of the plane, in a box-like fashion quite close to each other. I have pictures of that in the book, which I could fotograph.
Every Squad had a few of those which shot barges and small ships with that armament.
Would that mod be possible?
BTW for those who like to fly with FS9 once in a while: there is a real good Cat for that sim out there made by Alpha-Sim. Very detailed and with a nice cockpit.

sorry, roger, i think the alpha sim one is poooorly done.
the this one is muuch better and will be out soon (FSX) from aerosoft.
i'm on the beta for it.
P.S. @ ranwers. note the placement and size of the wheel well
.

Thrud, that indeed looks quite good. Got images of the cockpit, too?
I suppose that flat panel on the nose is where the quad 50ies are behind, isn't it?

Much better!
is there any way to flatten the nose portion so its less pointy?
no sure where you could get that part from, though

No it's just a venetian (roller) window-shutter that covers the bombsight.

The best possible
..... considering resources and original model you have started from
I'll enjoy this mod thoroughly once it gets published
Never had much interest in FS-FSX stuff no mater how good it may looks ....

i had lunch with Gibbage today. he mention he gave his source files for the IL-2 Pby to someone here at AAA. he forgot who. he said he'd check his mail when is computer is back online. He's in the middle of a move.
- VT-51_Razor - 21.10.2008
That would be tremendous if we could get Gibbage's PBY in the game!! It is a true -5A I believe!!
