mayday mayday mayday

On a more serious note, I think its a good idea to have along side the infantry mod.

Question is how time consuming would it be to implement?

- lowfighter - 03.12.2008

I think the first task would be to create an animated object, even with very poor animation, after all we see it at 300 Km/h or more, except when taking off from airfields...Create a human "vehicle" (like the normal vehicles we have in game) which while "driving" moves legs and hands. In itself that would be great for making airfields look more alive. If you can do that then you can do that also with cows...
I have no idea how hard that would be.
That would be the first step...

ahh squaggy

i do hink this is a great idea (the bird strikes) but technelly it coould be like an AI plane flying around in a flock and the BAM you hit it

but then it would be bad if you comming into land and then hit one

it would be quite funny Big Grin

Haha Madcat youve just got shot down by a a birds excrement xD, an infantry mod would be awsome. They dont need to shoot, take Janes WW2 fighters infantry for example, they were like 7 guys runing around with rifles and when you shot at them they screamed and when you hited them they would fall to the ground dead, not very sofisticated but will do just fine on IL-2. And it would be great fun to buzz them and see them runing away sceard, the problem is than you get distracted folllowing the tiny little soldiers when you realzie there are 30 mm sells all over and you get shot down by AAA.

that's what i'm talking about .... Big Grin

don't care for horses but this would be a must have for me ...

importing two or three different meshes clone them to have a flock and applying it as new plane ... less time than making new plane IMHO

Camels and horses - Cracken - 03.12.2008

You may kid around but I meant it for real... Now I am thinking about 1935-1936 Abyssinian campaign, but the East Africa map is too bare - I thought some camels and horses would be better in order to bring more amusement... But the idea of a bird hitting the plane is a good idea! We have soldiers, we have flags, why not to have animals in the game?

nothing wrong with that m8 .... totally reasonable request IMHO , in time i'm sure it'll get attention of modelers but for now planes have priority ( which is only logical ... after all , cos of planes we are all here  ).

Good thing is that FC has succeeded in making infantry mod so if anyone does import horse model in game there is a chance to get them movable .... without animation though . Just my opinion here , don't hold me to it ....

F22-Raptor-2006 Wrote:well.... i can imagine right now that if u could put flying pigeons in the game then accidently fly into a bunch of them or something..... lol

the classic indiana jones wth dad killin a bf109 wth an umbrella by scarin birds, i'd love the birds o death in the game, flocks that rip off ya props, catch jumo 004s ablaze, blow up ya fuel tanks, and eat the pilots alive!!ha ha ha!!

- Mangas - 25.03.2009

Adding troops/animals as a lot of separate models will surely have significant impact on FPS for those who run the game with 1600x1200 & forest=4 & water=4. It's even much worse than enabling 3Dgunners=1 for medium-range cards... What I suggest is adding infantry groups and complete flocks
as one (!) object with a single texture mapped on it... Well, perhaps doesn't look best with very close strafing (like in Il-2), but looks quite O.K. from about 700-1000 m and above... (Besides, we are searching for enemy fighters rather than sight-seeing, right? Big Grin )
