Thanks for the kind words guys, I'm glad you like the mod.

@Thor

Your dream has come true! I fixed the ground explosions along with a few other things. You can finally hear the ground explosions when you drop your bombs as well as fire your rockets. I am in the process of testing, but so far it sounds great. This will be in (Battle_Sounds_v2) as well as a few other fixes. I should be done testing soon.

Fun mods, but the flak is all wrong in terms of realism. By all accounts, flak bursts exploding only 30 or 40 feet from a B-17 could still barely be heard by the flight crew. Beyond 50 feet or so it was pretty much inaudible. With this mod flak bursts can be heard loudly from hundreds of feet away.
In addition, the explosion effects -as great as they look- are far more unrealistic than the stock version. IRL, flak explodes with only a small, brief fireball in the center of the smoke cloud. The mod has the fireball larger than the cloud itself, outside the cloud, and lasting too long. Furthermore, the crimson clouds created by certain shells are now black. Oleg has it close to proper. Please don't take this as a dis; I'm only attempting to offer some constructive criticism. As I said, fun mods, just not very realistic.

Much respect.

Can this can be adjusted to taste by opening the included explode.zenitka preset file and adjusting the spl to a lower number? Can't really test right now at work. --viking

I love the mod its really good and ive been using it for a while and ive recomended it to several ive been playing with.

Especially the flak sounds are awesome and make me jump in the chair when they go of near by .

The flash will come before the smoke as light travels faster, a he.. much faster then the smoke!Smile
therefore the flash itself will look bigger then the smoke.. look at a firecracker going of in the dark and you will see my point..

if you see on the bomb explotions as an example there is a brief flash then alot of smoke while in real live you vould also have flames "roling" inside and on the side of the smoke plume

"To see the angry, red center of some of the [flak] explosions meant that they were very close. To hear flak explode, it had to be within fifty feet of our plane, otherwise the very loud engine noise would drown out the noise of an explosion farther away. Likewise, to feel a jolt from a flak explosion, it would have to be within twenty-five feet or less from the plane." ~From "25 Milk Runs" by Richard Johnson.

"Keep in mind the residual noise of the 4 large engines and the air rushing noise transmitted through the un-insulated skin. That noise overcame almost every other sound. To speak to another crew member, without using the interphone, one had to yell directly into his ear.
The only flak noises I heard were very close hits that sounded like a whump or some times a wham. I don't recall any other sound from flak generally."
~Bob Gilbert, Ball Turret Gunner, Goldin crew, 381st Bomb Gp., 533rd Bomb Sq. US 8th Air Force

"[Flak] exploded in daylight with puffs of black smoke with little red interiors, and made muffled "krumppp" sounds (due to the high levels of noise in the Allied bombers). At night they flashed quickly yellow or red and dissappeared." From the website, Canadian Air Aces and Heroes

These are only a few examples of the countless descriptions of flak bursts during WWII. There is tons of footage of flak explosions available to witness for oneself the quick flash of fire within the center of a dark cloud which bursts outward and upward, ultimately mushrooming into something resembling a humanoid figure with arms, legs, and a large head.

i agree to the sound of flak that it must be near to hear it over the engines and so on...

"In addition, the explosion effects -as great as they look- are far more unrealistic than the stock version. IRL, flak explodes with only a small, brief fireball in the center of the smoke cloud"

here you have things in the wrong order as the flash will come before the smoke and not after the smoke...........Wink
therefore the flash will be greater then the smoke plume or whatever you want to call it and the flash is the explotion of the grenade while the smoke is the result of the explotion...
If natural lawes are alike all over the planet that is!Wink

- rockyalexander - 20.02.2009

...but this mod doesn't simulate a flash of light; it simulates a large fireball.

Whatever the case, it's a fun mod and people like it. That certainly makes it worth the effort the modders put into it.

- VF101hawk - 20.02.2009

i totally agree!Smilelol

mine is a flash with sparcks flying out from it. but that you only see right up close when going of. else just a flash then a large puff of black smoke that stays there for a long time!Smile

Maybe different setting in config ini pluss different type of hardware??

Hmmm...could be. Idea
