....about my map making poor attempts.....

You're a talented artist Avala. This "attempt" is outstanding! Confusedhock:

- Guest - 24.06.2009

Poor attempt in sense that I had first to learn how to do it, which would be much more difficult without kevinp's tutorial and Fly_zo's advices. Don't forget that there is also other people's mods involved, for example buildings are looking so good thanks to Lal_Rone's retexturing (included in Ui 1.1).

And I was sort of cheating; this is not historic map so it was much easier to do whatever I wanted. Also there is no road or railways, so it was easier to do it, although you can set vehicles to drive on those roads on that texture without problems. I think I wouldn't be able to do bigger historically map by myself, that is job for more people.

Buildings are organically grown, I mean handplaced

Here they are how they look for that air port:

This is how original map is looking

And this is mine. Map_C acting as navigational map for the time.

Bicycleplane flying above volcano named "Widow's Tit"; (although some people for some reason call it "Widow's Teeth" Big Grin ). Height is about 1100 meters.

Ah, some more great pictures, I love the hand placed objects.

As for 'Widow's tit', it's a bit like PC'ness gone wrong. I did a medieval re-enactment show, and there was a long thin bladed dagger that Billmen and Longbowmen carried as a last resort weapon. Because of it's shape, it was called the 'bollock' knife, for reasons, well, i'm sure you can guess. However, some people insist it was in fact called a 'ballock' knife -- which i was informed was totally wrong! Big Grin

Garn, someone's going for the post count here, you could have edited your previous post!

Must admit, those cliffs do look really good, i'm really looking forward to this map!

Damn; you caught me out Moggy  LOL, I was 1:0 up at the end of yesterday; looks like I need to catch up Big Grin

As always Avala you work is top notch

It's not cheating to make a non-historical map. It's a real place though so that counts for something. Ultimately it's the quality that really counts and quality is in abundance here.

Well more kudos for the extra attention to detail.

If you don’t have problems with other new mod maps, this one too will run without problems.

Boris@

I think that I grabbed that skin at flying legends, but that was long time ago . . .

It will, though i wouldn't use the perfect terrain settings. I had a Nvidia 6200 myself, and there were no probs.

- Lejo - 26.06.2009

Maybe you should change the name of this tropical paradise Bengalli into...Neverland?

- Guest - 26.06.2009

No, the inspiration says "Benghalli" (comic book "Phantom") of the coast of east Africa deep into the Indian Ocean . . . hardly known and unexplored in 1930s

Beside that I like when islands looks like islands and not flat blotches in the water (common IL2 Islands)

Small update. I am trying to make forests blocky edge less visible. All depends on the angle and the altitude.
