What's wrong with some of you guys? The reason we don't have more decent WWII air combat simulators on the market is due to the incredible effort and investment required to develop them. Oleg and his team have done us proud and we should be rallying around and supporting his organisation in any way we can. I don't think greed comes into it at all - these guys have spent years developing something we want so badly and they need to make a decent profit on the venture, otherwise we may never see another sim of this calibre again.

Add-on aircraft and add-on expansion packs are a way of generating an income stream to keep development progressing. The way some guys talk, you'd think they were buying a car or something. The purchaser of a 30-50 dollar game simply can't expect endless free updates - someone has to pay the bills. Personally, I think we're darn lucky to have someone like Oleg pouring his soul into something we care so much about. I really don't think a larger organisation could develop a sim of such breath taking depth and complexity - the development timescales and profit risks are just too great.

Oleg needs our continuing support if we want him to keep providing the goodies, not just an initial purchase of the base sim. I'm not a wealthy guy but I really don't see the purchase of an add-on every 6-12 months as being that big a deal. I know plenty of guys who spend that kind of money of cigarettes evey week!

I'm not here to upset anyone. I just think we all need to realise what Oleg means to the flight sim community and how sorry we'd be if he abandoned the market place due to ungrateful customers who failed to put their hand in their pocket once or twice a year.

Listen.. even people who may come across as having a negative attitude will still buy the game.. there's nothing else to match it anywhere. WoP looks gorgeous, but is nowhere near the same level of detail that SoW will have. I'll be buying both anyway.
Oleg will have his profit regardless.. why do you think IL2 has lasted so long? It has a massive fanbase otherwise this site and others would never have come to fruition and taken the game forward. he's also used to people like us whining and fighting amongst each other keeping it all alive.. He's got no worries, his game will be snapped up by an eager multitude of flying game nerds that hang on his every word, me included...

...and as he has so boasted, maybe even future film-makers and historians alike. If all goes his way, SoW will be the flight-sim to end all flight-sims Wink
