That just seems like unnecessary redundancy to me.

VonBarb, post a list if there are any old mods you cant find. I'm sure between us we can find them all.

Well it made me smile Ashe, glad you got it back V.Barb Big Grin

Not that I'm going to keep said versions, I never worried about breaking it when updating.

Well, it looks like I have spoken too soon. The system restore restored the folders, but not the files... Looks like I'm going to have to work my way up from a clean install. again. I've been a able to retrace most mods and re-download them again, except for the ancient version of HG & Potenz's effects mod I was using. Is anybody still using an old version of their mods from before it became incompatible with the PAT smoke mod and Zephyr's camera mod by any chance ?

I also lost a number of WIP textures I had been working on for Canon's map, and that will set me back a lot.

Cheers

Nico

Wait, did you have the files in any other location? Or were they all in your mods folder which got deleted? I really feel for you mate; you'd probably be able to find HG and P's smoke mod somewhere on this site Wink

- VonBarb. - 14.12.2009

Nope, all in the mods folder unfortunately. Oh well, that's the perfect opportunity to make something better. Fortunately the bigger part of the modification I intended to use those textures with is safe, and so is a lot of other stuff.

I have learnt a lot, that's for sure...

Cheers

Nico

I am a very experienced user and I read through everything because I was worried of losing my mods folder......Just cause your an expert doesn't mean you don't sometimes need instructions...

I didn't say that; i too always read instructions, however it is quite easy to make a mistake and think that you know what you are doing without fully reading the instructions.

I think I've got just about every version of that mod somewhere, but I won't be able to get to the older ones until I go to my parents' house next week, if you do need it. I'm sure you could ask HolyGrail or Potenz as well, I bet one of them has kept their old versions of the mod somewhere. Smile

Re: HSFX deletes your F'ing files BECAUSE NO BACKUP! - Fireskull - 16.12.2009

Nico.

I'll try to be as kind and considerate as possible here: YOU DID NOT BACKUP WHAT YOU WANT TO KEEP. This is no one's fault except-guess who? Backing up important items in a computer is basic.

After the rant in this topic, I am sure that I am being kind with this reply. Stuff happens to all of us. I must confess that I have made some of the stupidest mistakes and should have been aware to prevent them.

Hang in there!

Mate.. stop ramming down his throat that he has made a mistake.. he's stated that himself for god's sake..
