well....if you install the destruction mod to its own folder in the MODS folder...and the A_trees and things in another.........and you don't like them.....just delete those folders
They give you............. extra train and vehicle columns....US tractor......trees which are harder to destroy (instead of going up in a puff of dust at the first sign of an explosion)...hit trees are now replaced by damage ones instead of just disappearing..... oil drums now have new versions which are 1.5m. higher as well as the originals so they can sit on top of each other or on docks etc......static a/c now have an explosion and smoke when destroyed.......new extra net shelters of 4m. and 6 m. height.....barrage balloon has been replaced by the observation balloon type......new tree types...
and maybe something I've forgotten

Thanks fabianfred, this is a great mod! I particularily like the lingering flak effects.

Please help me, I'd like make the flak burst last not as long as they do it now
I figured out that it must be in the files like
C:\Program Files\Ubisoft\IL-2 Sturmovik q946\MODS\DAMAGEMOD2\Effects\Explodes\Air\Zenitka\USSR_25mm\SmokeBoiling.eff
and there must be the value "LiveTime 5000.0 " right? is this in miliseconds?
and I also see a file named "SmokeBoiling.eff.org" is this a backup of the original?
- Vpmedia - 08.02.2008
ok, problem solved I reseted livetime to original values
and will set it to higher value if I buy a new pc
otherwise this mod is very good, should be posted as final , I really like those secondary explosions which didnt seem to effect the fps too much
thanks!

Hello Istvan,
I also have an issue with FPS with these effects. What value should I put?
Thanks in advance for your advice,
Vincent

you know, i have an old ATI x850 on a 3.4 P4 and i have absolutely no problem with the sky filled with black and white puffs of smoke ..... sometimes i think these FPS hits with eye candy have to do with video drivers.
man flying a ground attack mission looks just like those WW2 pictures you see around

5 and 10 are the original values for the 20mm and the 88mm
first you need to open the file
C:\Program Files\Ubisoft\IL-2 Sturmovik 1946\MODS\DAMAGEMOD2\Effects\Explodes\Air\Zenitka\USSR_25mm\SmokeBoiling.eff
and set " LiveTime 5.0"
then open the
C:\Program Files\Ubisoft\IL-2 Sturmovik 1946\MODS\DAMAGEMOD2\Effects\Explodes\Air\Zenitka\USSR_85mm\SmokeBoiling.eff
and set " LiveTime 10.0"
or you can try higher values of course but 5000 and 10000 is too much for my pc

Thanks a lot for the tips Istvan, this is what I was looking for. My frame rate also suffers with these effects, so I appreciate a lot your sharing of your know-how.
Cheers,
Vincent

I tried higher value for the heavy AA, "LiveTime 100.0" in SmokeBoiling.eff seem work fine, gives nice effect with minimum fps hit, the white smoke seems to be an fps hit, but I dont know what to edit to gain and not lose fps

It worked in most of my 4.08 campaigns..
though when trying to load into my campaigns using the Kyushu (Japan1) map.. it gives a load error.
Thats the only map Ive found a problem with it on yet though.

- changes objects damage properties for better
- makes ships smoke when strafed, gun postitions can be taken out one by one, gunfire can sink small ships now
- makes nice explosion effects for destroyed objects
- in general, it makes ground/ship attack missions a different ballgame
- fabianfred - 12.02.2008
couple of pix here of the damage to ships AAA guns..... being caused by bomb/rocket/straffe
viewtopic.php?t=2906
THE most important benefit is probably the new smoke and secondary explosion for static a/c when hit....

WOW!
Downloading!!

I finally got around to installing the wrapper and installing this mod. It's fantastic!!!!!
I especially like the lingering flak effects and explosions. I haven't experienced any kind of fps hit from it either. Thanks fabianfred!
