Thoughts about winter airstrips
Winter versions of the concrete strips should have snow piled at various heights along the sides with snow ice patches scattered along the length of the airstrips.
So it would look like the airstip had been snowplowed. Also, it might also be best if the airstrip takeoff patch was narrower and the edges not clearly defined (ragged) . This way it would appear they strips had been snow plowed just enough to clear a path for the aircraft to take off.
Since Il2 aircraft only go off one at a time it would work. It would probably be best to take the widest stance Landing gear aircraft that will use the strips,i.e., bombers. It probably wouldn't hurt if the snow on the sides was run through by the aircraft landing or taking off either.

Hey m8s, Trooper, sure thang i can do a winter runway
Nearmiss I like your vision of the winter concrete but I'm afraid it might be difficut to do, I think the large taxiway surfaces share the same part of the texture as the middle of the runway, that would make the taxi surfaces have snow piles on them, I can go as far as snow piled up against hangars, snow around the starting areas (with the stripes) and the taxiway that has grass. and it could be ice/snow wet concrete, and so on.
What sucks is that you're very limited when making mods for Il2, you can't touch the UV's of the original models and because of that you have to do the same texture follow the same laws, just make it better since the computer nowadays can take more gfx wise. so please don't get your hopes up too much
cheers!

Thanks Flush.. That would be great if you could do a slightly darker version..

Hey Cat_Mouth, could you please upload those airfield textures you edited from Flushmeister's, cause i've got no Photoshop (and no PS skills either  ).
I also found Flushmeisters version too dark, but yours looks just right.
So it would be very much appreciated!

nice mod but i dont check wherer to but these files in!
If you could make it in correct folder and load it again ?
- Klemm - 20.04.2008
Hey prodigy, the files go into MODS/New Airfield Concrete/3do/airfield/Concrete
Of course you've got to create those folders yourself (except for the mods folder, that one should be already there).

Those screenies are just darn awesome, W H !!
Are you using the HDR/bloom addon, or did you use Photoshop or such?
Really cool stuff!
I found that if I run IL-2 in DirectX mode (to make use of the HDR/bloom), my ingame screenshots come out all corrupted. Under OpenGL, no problem. Pity, so I can't get ingame screenies of the effect, maybe I'll try Fraps, or something like that...

This is one outstanding mod! I just happened to search through here and find this...I can't believe more people aren't talking about this mod.
This is a dream for mission builders...a true "must have" mod!
BIG THANKS!!!!

I can't see these textures in my game. I've got the FOUR TGA's placed in a folder called Concrete, like this "MODS\New textures\3do\airfield\Concrete". Am I doing something wrong? Thanks in advance for any help, they look amazing and I'd love to see 'em.
