George Lucas has stated in several interviews that the dog fighting sequence's in the original series where based on what he had seen from original WWII footage.

The attack on the Falcon by Tie fighters in the original Star Wars was very much inspired by real on-board B-17 footage that George had seen prior to making the original classic, which is why most of you perusing these forums will realise that you also have a liking for the aerial fighting sequences in the Star Wars series.

All jokes aside here, I would love to see a X-Wing and Tie fighter mod NO JOKING HERE!! 8)
