certificate: Sure!

Run some test missions and give Certificate some good information that will help to develop the AI.

This is the first time in 9 years anyone has made any improvements in the AI, and do we ever need them for decent Offline play.

I gave up on this sim for building missions years ago, because the AI was so friggin lousy. Also, the FMB was so darned tedious to work with as well. Now, we do have some new mission builder tools that make for some time savings.

With all the releases of mod changes in flight models and aircraft... the ONLINE game could be toast in a couple more months. The Offline game maybe the only decent game left, and without good AI it will not be good for offline play.

Certificate came along at just the right time to re-stimulate a huge amount of new interest. You can only get so much out of eye candy graphic MODS.

I'm not sure what you mean, nearmiss.

I'm just following up on something from the previous topic that ran over 42 pages long and included a lot of test missions/useful suggestions from me and many others.

I'm planning on doing plenty more of the same on this topic when I get some time to do some IL-2 flying.

Sorry, I wasn't directing my rresponse to you. I was reading your posting and just started writing.

After I posted... then I stupidly realized my screw up.

No problem.

Yup, I hate to say it, but still having some issues with ground attack behavior. With the AI mod enabled, the jabos will only pull out at about 5 degrees (nearly level) after a strafing run. this generally ends in a crash into even the slightest increase in elevation.

With the mod disabled, the jabos will make a 20-degree pullout and avoid crashing into the ground.

This goes for every AI skill setting from rookie to ace.

The difference is obvious.

Oh, a strafing run! here I was trying to figure out what the heck screwed up the pullout on a bombing run.

Thanks rocky, I'll have a look.

- rockyalexander - 27.03.2009

Much appreciation, Cert. The pullout angles are the only thing keeping this mod from being as close to perfect as it can be. The air combat is nothing short of incredible!

See....there is a man willing to work hard to give all of us a quality product! Cert, your toils are admired by all my friend, keep it up. In the end I am ceratin that this mod will revolutionize the AI in IL-2......In my opinion....it already has!

Thanks again Cert!

this mod is fantastic, though I am having one issues.

1. Occasionally the AI fighter-bombers don't even hit the ground targets. I hear "target sighted, attacking, etc.", but they just keep flying to the next waypoint at altitude, ignoring the target. If they have bombs they drop them early. One mission I have found that this allways happens is the first mission of the "battleaxe- hurrican pilot" campaign, found in the mods section of mission4today. On that one, three Hurricanes are to strafe torpedo-boats. Upon reaching the ground attack waypoint, the ai flight leader turns away and heads for the next waypoint. It happens every time you fly the mission.

hopefully providing a repeatable example can help.

2. strafing pullout is too low, but this has allready been mentioned.

thanks

Aviar Wrote:I always do very controlled testing and it is very easy to reproduce the modded AI crashing. As a very basic example, I will include below the mis file for a simple test that anyone can look at.

Thank you very much, this is exactly the sort of thing I need when a bug crops up!

It will be fixed ASAP now that I have some way of reproducing it Wink .

certificate: Sure!

I did that ages ago actually, forget to include the relevant file in the release!

The following types of American fighters will now default to the finger 4:

P-38 P-40 P-47 P-51 F2A F4F F4U F6F SBD

Not a nag, in fact I appreciate you reminding me!

- Triad773 - 27.03.2009

Finger 4?? Confusedhock:

Cool stuff!

Thanks Cert!
