SIMPLY MARVELLOUS!!!!
- redko - 09.11.2009
Ok ok.
Do we have a complete set of skins for planes at that period of war for both sides and with an
equal quality ?
I mean something like Jaypack work ?
- WhiteCat - 09.11.2009
Redko, AMAZING, really good work mate!!!
Some suggestions to improve it more, I've thought about it but never tested:
I've seen your textures in Okinawa and I've seen that you've done the offset anti - tiling suggested in some tutorials around. But it has occurred to me that still the tiling happens even between different textures, even if you put manually different textures over the map, see what I mean:
Now, I've thought that, if you offset randomly the tiling between textures, maybe this effect dissapear completely:
Hope it's a good idea, cheers.

Hum ok will take a look to that. The textures i use are so detailed that you dont't see this in general (i'm lucky) excepted for very plate plains. Thanks for suggestion WhiteCat. Cio !

Just thought I'd post these here, as they show off the amazing texturing work on the Okinawa map... but seeing you working on this made me want to do some "Home defense" skins. I've done 5 or 6 KI-84 skins for units stationed in Japan, and I'll try to get some other a/c done too. if anyone's interested I'll release them when I'm done. Redko, any ballpark idea on when this map'll be finished, so I know when to have them done by?

OOOOOOOOOOHHHHHH Yesssssssssssss !!!!!!!!!
Do it please !
. Would be nice mate !!!!.
For release, hum...Iwo for this week end, certainly Saturday night. Kyushu could be released this week end to even if there is some 2/3 things i want to do better. The work is DONE, but i'm flying the map again again and again in oder to see if the texture visually work good for all point of views and at different hours, morning, midday...nightfall.....It's the secret for a photorealistic rendering.
So I would say this week end too or in the middle of next week.

November 17 update - all is looking good
It's gonna take little more time than aspected as i "paint" all manually, but the result is looking good for the moment. The surface to cover is huge so be patient....it's gonna be very nice
.
Kyushu......the PERFECT place to take a ride.
The dominant color is still green for the moment, but it will change once i'll "attack" the problem of cities and agriculture textures.
I know this plane has nothing to do with Kyushu but as the island is BIG it takes me less time to fly all over to check details, volumes, textures, colors....for a good work there is no other method but to check part by part....
1. A base
2.
3.
4.progressive textures....
5. there is at least 4-5 volcanos in this map, at different level of geological evolution...will be funny to fly over to check this point as in reality  . left side is too geometrical but it's still under way......notice this volcano has vegetation inside
6.
7.
8. I'm doing some dry lava rivers flowing through the mountains and forests
9. There will be chains of moutains too
10.
11. OK....even if this is a little too "geometrical" (engine limitations
) it's possible to play with complex textures dispositions.....some other laval rives here....
12. Same....lava rivers
13.
14.
15.
16.
17. This volcano must be the oldest one...practically disapeared
18.
19.
20.
21.
22.
23.
The thing here is to try to use ALL the 32 or 31 slots of textures in order to have the maximum of diversity and avoid a "boredom" effet. Wonder is someone could change this and allow us to use more textures....would be great for photorealistics maps

Great stuff! Looking forward to it's release!
I like it better than what I had seen from Flight Simulator 10 (X)
Thank you
Triad

Going on................november 19 2009
Don't pay too attention to cities for the moment i will work on the problem of too modern bildings for a WW2 Kyushu later.
This show parts of north Kyushu which are wilder than the south. If there is veterans here who can post some memories and/or pics of what was Kyushu during World War 2 feel free !

This may give some ideas of pre-war densities and terrain:
Kyushu 1897

Okay thanks....will check this.
SAKURAJIMA, check google earth to see what it looks for real, i'm in the begining process with this volcano from the south . I worked a lot all the day on this map...i'm broken
. But more I work on it more i like it...so beautiful. This map is really full of surprises in each parts you look at. I'm trying now to detail as many places as possible in order to force you guys to take your planes just to take a ride and explore it .
I was thinking that with 50-60 differents textures i could be able to detail each place as it is in reallity....would be great if someone here could make a mod for that, increase the texture limit... :???: :???: :???:
