I am having the 60% crash from air.ini. I have it installed correctly and it always will crash. Any ideas?

You need to mod your game first, there are several ways you can do it but my most preferred way is Custom, meaning I can't use my new planes online but all my effects mods will still work and I don't end up downloading A Multi-Gigabyte Mod Pack like HSFX or UP.

I have been modding IL-2 for a long time, just on a different account. I have the latest SAS buttons and AC Installer 3.8 with 4.09 b1m. I do have the original L5.
Re: [MOD]L-5 Arty Spotter - Murph - 01.07.2010
A crash at 60% usually indicates a problem with the game's buttons file. This is the file the game uses to assign FM characteristics for each plane.
The two most common issues with the buttons file are not having a file that is up-to-date for the aircraft listed in the air.ini, and having more than one buttons file in the game.
Doing a manual mod setup will not help with either of these issues.
First, do a search of your game's directory for anything called "buttons" and see if you have more than one. If you do, remove one of them to a safe place and save it outside the game. Test to see if the game loads. If not, try putting it back and removing/saving the other buttons file (presuming you only find two copies).
If you find that you have only one buttons file, your problem is that it is not up-to-date. Updated buttons files can be found at sites such as SAS. Make sure you back up and save your old buttons somewhere before overwriting it.
I hope this helps. If not perhaps someone more knowledgeable can jump in.

Arkbird, it looks like we cross-posted. I use HSFX so I'm not sure how to address problems with buttons files in 4.09b1m. The AC Installer just updates the buttons file as far as I know.
I hope you can get this sorted out.

Aircraft Installer is so outdated, I can send you the never released V 3.9 but that is out of the question. Now make a clean install and follow my guide because you boviously have the obselete verion of a custom install. If you make a clean install and follow my guide which I posted a link to above then you will have no problems trust me.
