How would one go about turning an HSFX 5.1 install into a UP 3.0
Re: Hsfx or UltraPack? -
{HVY-E}Jinxx - 01.07.2011
Just get rid of UP 3 and save yourself the trouble.
HSFX has better sounds and graphics textures as well as better pits.

Dixiecapt Wrote:How would one go about turning an HSFX 5.1 install into a UP 3.0
For starters,Dixie is asking how to go about installing UP 3 over HSFX
So no need to post for him "to get rid of UP 3"
Don't listen to anyone's Bias opinions Dixie, try UP 3.0 and make up your own mind
obviously {HVY-E}Jinxx is biased
It is easy to build ontop of HSFX
There are two ways of doing it,
one way is just delete your files and mods folder, then install UP 3.0
That is.... as long as your HSFX is already patched to 4.101m
If not..... then delete files and mods folder, patch the game to 4.101m and then install UP 3.0
Or,this is another way
With CirX's new SAS Activator, you can now have UP 3.0,SAS DBW and still have HSFX and have all three installs in one game
So no waited space on hardrive, one skins folder ,one missions folder ete ete that all get shared by each game version
All do to the new selector that has been made, and the new way that UP and SAS use now a #UP# and a #DBW folders for the old MODS folder
So in essence, you can now run three Mods folders in one game
I have HSFX 5,UP 3.0 and SAS DBW all in the same game
All three versions work NP
SAS DBW (Needs UP 3.0 installed)>
http://www.sas1946.com/main/index.php/t ... 539.0.html
UP 3.0>
http://ultrapack.il2war.com/index.php/topic,4029.0.html
I myself am not biased, but I will say I very rarely use my HSFX install anymore
Now I use mainly SAS DBW offline, and IMHO is the ultimate offline experience
and UP 3 is my dedicated choice for Online gaming
Cheers
Re: Hsfx or UltraPack? - Dixiecapt - 01.07.2011
I used the second approach UP 3 works fine, however, I have two bugs.
When I try and open the KTO map i crash to desktop, and when I try to use the Jeep I find they are both have their wheels on the roof.
I found this error note:

Dixiecap what you have is - IT WORKS FOR SOME BUT NOT ALL.
I have installed UP alone and also with the SaS modact.
Both got screwed UP and had to delete the whole mess.
Seems UP at this stage is a bugfest.
If you want UP-3 RC3 make a clean install and hope for the best.
good luck
Re: Hsfx or UltraPack? - Dixiecapt - 02.07.2011
Skymish,
I put a fresh install of il-2, got it patched up, loaded UP 3.0 on it and KTO map still crashes the game in fmb.
i tried ways around this, I even put the map in the #UP# and #DBW folders, still nothing.
THis error pops up in my root il2.

Re: Hsfx or UltraPack? - Apollo_13 - 02.07.2011
for the odd guy who has maps crasheing there game,
it has been discussed thoroughly over at UP already
Simply check 512 RAM and 4 Gb address and your maps should load NP
and it is better than using the old fix of using S3TC Compression
Therror log you posted really has no map problems associated in the log
it is all java memory issues
If it was because of the actual map,the error log would say why the map did not load
As for bugs, with monumental changes bugs are a fact of life
especially when having to fix everything just to have it work in the new 4.101m environment
Besides most bugs are gone now, very few persist and they will be fixed with in a couple weeks
For maps, pretty much all bugs have been fixed
so any map related problems would be end user problems rather than bugs
