Hey fabianfred, everything works great for me except that iI don't get the fire effect on the ships.they smoke fine but iI see no fire.maybe I did something wrong on my install. :?

- fabianfred - 12.02.2008

don't worry....I may have tweaked my own settings a little....I'm continually doing that...trying to get things just right....

I am going to release a complete new package which will replace the old....and explain everything too....with seperate folders for the static.ini/ships.ini/technics.ini etc.... so that any new additions can be make easier....and people can update their own static.ini easily

Good news, fabianfred! I have been holding out on this very-desried mod, because I'm upgrading and will have to re-install everything anyway. Can't wait!

Thanks fabianfred,I can't wait to try it out.I installed the plane crash effects and they look great with the rolling flames and smoke. That smoke and fire effect would look great on ships that have been hit and set on fire with fuel buring on or below decks.Looking forward to the new effects Big Grin

I just removed this mod pack from my download site a week ago..... now the mods are getting more complicated and numerous there are conflicts arising..... and I was putting each of the static/ships/technics/chiefs/etc. ini files in their own folder in the MODS folder

But Fishsneaky and I decided to put them all in the STD folder for ease of finding them

I haven't got around to re-doing the pack (been busy with maps and missions).......maybe it's better to have each part as a seperate mod

tell me what you are interested in first and I'll fix it up

take a look at this too...

Fabian, I think as this whole thing progresses and as you say, conflicts are starting to arise, many people feel it is beyond them to mess with the various files, or rather they don't have the confidence to alter various files and they are detered or put off..
It can be daunting for newer users.. But I'm sure in time as things progress, an easier, and more common or universal way to introduce mods will evolve, with less 'messing' from the common user to worry about..
I do feel sometimes when I have just got things running ok, then introduce a newer mod, and it then goes pear shaped, I do get frustrated as hell.. Confusedhock: But, I'm all to aware this is still a learning curve for all the modders out there as well as us!

Best thing to do is back up your mods folder periodically. Weekly is good if you are serious about this stuff. That way you can backtrack when needed. I tend to do all my installations manually so I can be sure where stuff is going. It's a great way to get familiar with the workings of the game. So far I haven't needed to resort to my backup though (touch wood).

this is wut im intrested in

some buildings & weaker other thingsstationary.ini.....with stationary US Tractor

ships.ini...... with softer AAA guns

chief.ini....with a few extra trains and vehicle convoys...and a few default ones made bigger..& US Tractor

Technics.ini......with slightly hardened trains...+++++ SECONDARY EXPLOSIONS and smoke for static aircraft........ bigger bombers have an explosive sound and more black smoke....smaller A/C have fuel fire and less smoke

go to the mods folder and try the 'fabianfred's_ini_files'

put them in your MODS/STD folder...(but check if you have any of them first and just make a new folder and drag the old ones there until you try these)

add a '-' to the front of the name of them first to disable them...then remove the '-' for each one at a time to see if there are any problems

If possible, can you tell where each files goes to? for ex: static.ini and ship.ini goes to files/com/maddox/il2/objects. those i know. the others i forgot
