How many such ships were in percentage of all Japanese merchant ships? Smile
10? 15? It is a lot of? Big Grin
And how many was the Japanese merchant ships in percentage of English, American, Soviet, German?
The most mass arms on merchant ships were oerlicons. 8)

I spoke not about takeoff, I spoke about landing.
Landing deck Illustrious narrow. And cuts for cannon towers narrow it even more. Planes frequently fall in these cuts.
I conducted the great number of experiments practically with by all single-engine and two-engined planes.
My conclusion

Hi FC, can you make spawn points on carriers different? for example non parallel to take-off direction, or more concentrated towards the rear part of the deck...

I think that I can move spawn points although I can't guarantee that I can make it non parallel to take off. Even if that is possible AI would have lot of trouble to take off from that position.

One thing you have to keep in mind Gitano, is that an AI controlled aircraft has a collision box around it, whereas a human controlled plane does not - where it applies to other aircraft. In other words, two human occupied aircraft can taxi into or through one another (in a coop mission) without a problem, but an AI occupied plane will cause a collision if another AI or human occupied plane touches it. So, one has to be very careful when selecting spawn points on the carrier deck to ensure that when wings are unfolded, all aircraft are clear of each other. It's a very complicated routine I'm sure. The fact that the spawn points are the same for Single Player, DF and coop missions only complicates it even further.

WOW a streched Ilustrious with the Essex deck would be Wondrfull!
Please, FC, clone it twice or thrice so we can have to different skins for that class of ship.

I can think of a lot of late UK carriers like teh colossus class, that then was sold all over the world. to India, Brasil, France, Argentina, Holand to name a few... And being we have n catapults ye and the need for lots of tailhooks on aircraft, the largest the deck available, the better.

thanks for the info FC and Razor... even if it's a tricky argument, adding some more spawn points dedicated to human players, like some Slovakia airports, would be much more immersive IMO... Wink

Thanks a lot for this MOD, and the new ships.

I understand that this MOD can be made compatible with other MODS using the same *.ini files, but that some manual editing is required.

I did it yesterday but it took some time because the sections of the files from the ship pack are sometimes located in the middle of the files, and there can be two additional sections instead of just one, within the same file.

May I suggest for future packs that you also provide a simple "ADD TO *.ini" for each concerned *.ini file, with only the new lines to be added, so that we can copy/paste very easily with NotePad what we need at the end of our modded *.ini files?

Of course this assumes that we do not have an issue with the order of appearance of such additional information in the files.

This is what Sneaky has done for his new buildings skins.

Thanks in advance,

Vincent

I'm affraid that it's not possible to just put everything from ship mod at the end of .ini files. I will make test but I doubt that it will work.

As you have noticed there are couple of sections inside of .ini files and if I want to put everything from Ship mod at one place I will have to duplicate some sections and I don't know what is going to happen.

If you didn't noticed I have marked all added sections with ShipPack mark so it shouldn't be that hard to copy/paste them into appropriate place in .ini files.

EDIT:

I tried it and it might be possible, in fact it seems that I'll be able to separate new ships from stock ships in Object menu. I need to check all of the .ini files currently in use by ShipPack but some CAN be adjusted to allow users easier manipulation.

THANK YOU!

Actually I did what you described; I thought it would be just less time consuming if one would simply add a section for the shippack at the end of the related .ini files. I agree that your effort to mark the added portions was helpful.

Thanks a lot for your kind attention,

Vincent

FC Wrote:OK, I have found solution for resizing carriers and now I can make flight deck of any size I want. That mean that I can use Illustrious and make it to match size of Graf Zeppelin.

Only problem now is time because carriers have a lot of parts that have to be put in correct place.

I remove a hat before your talents and knowledge. Smile
At me the request.
Make, please, a new aircraft carrier for me. I want, that it was the absolute twin Essex. Name it somehow, for example, the CarrierDDR.
Files "class" are necessary for this aircraft carrier for me only. Itself make these files I cannot. I cannot compile files "Java" back.
In files "ini" I can make necessary changes.

I Could also use an Essex Clone my self.

One question: theres absolutly no way to tilt the Flight deck to get an angeled fligth deck like in modern Carriers?

Did the US had carriers with an angeled deck in Korea All ready?

- YuVe - 11.04.2008

You see, FC,
not I one need in a clone of Essex. Cry
Maybe, will perfect Shippak, adding this klon to it?
And everyone will make skins for himself. Tongue

I have some problems with new ships at the moment but I hope I'll solve it. My plan is to Add 3 empty slots for advanced users which will enable them to make ships they want.

No. The first angled deck for the US Navy wasn't until around 1954-5 I think.
