Thanks for this mod Mr. Fox. This is my favorite 50's gun sound.

The only problem with the sound is that every US plane has at least 4 .50s, and you sound is of 1 .50. We need to combine them for better use!

I ran mine through an EQ in a sound editing program to add a touch of bass and volume. I also attenuated the external sound. I can share it if Mr. Fox wants me too.

actually if you listen closely it does shoot out all 4 -50 .cals. notice when your running out of ammo, and only have 100 rounds left in your last 2 guns how the sound changes. and if you ask me, I actually like it best the last 100 rounds....

OK, here it goes... I love the sounds of these guns Smile I've got an Soundblaster X-Fi with sounds on max settings and they sound really good (EAX enabled). Also, I adjusted the level to sound ok with my sound mod, v9.0.

Hi guys, just found your site.
Fantastic work you all have done to the sim that was said could never be modded!

I am having a problem getting this sound to work. I followed the instructions, i.e. in the Samples folder and also installed it in the Sound folder, and in files/ samples or whatever it is..all locations I could find that sounds would go, and I still get the default .50 sound (which I always hated, especially from the exterior)

Any ideas why it might not play?
Thanks..

Gents,

Somewhere in my archives, I have "Real" .50 cal sounds that I sampled for use in Aces High. If someone would like, I'd be happy to share them for use in IL-2.

I recorded the sounds while out on a live fire exercise with my unit. Sounds are recorded from the sides of the MG's and from behind. Sorry, since we are an Army unit, no sounds from within a cockpit. I do have another live fire coming up, so I could try to record the sounds fom, say, a Hummer.

Just let me know what you require.

hmm.. I'm not quite sure what might be the problem.... are you a VISTA user? if so and if you have the game installed in your "programs _ il2 " that might be the problem since window has a security feature that can prevent changes from happening. what I did for VISTA, is make a new folder called "GAMES" in my "c DRIVE" so its linked like this "c:/GAMES/il2 sturmovik 1946" that could be the problem. but like I said, not 100% sure. you can give it a go, but be sure to back up folders before changes. if you arent on VISTA i really dont know what to tell you.. any one else got a suggestion ?

very nice. always open for a better sound. guess all I can say I look for when looking for a new sound to try is 50 cal videos on youtube. but most have talking, or wind noise. so they are hard to work with. but I look for these sounds:

- a burst 3-4 rounds.
- a single shot.
- and maybe a 8-10 burst

I like the sound of shells falling, I think it add some intensity, but not too overwhelming.

exterior and interior sounds are ideal, but again they can be edited, to add a muffle. if you can work that out, that would be awesome. I would totally give it a shot on making these more realistic.

- thanks for the post, and thanks for your service. not for sounds, but for the nation. be safe- Hooah!
