@Stuka...

Is it possible to make a script to allow for more than 1 type of smoke?
It would be great to have several different kinds of smoke trails (all slightly different) that are chosen randomly from the Materials folder so when the guns are fired, the smoke trails do not all look exactly the same. It would just be one more small thing to make the sim more believable and immersive.

Thats a great Idea !!!

Actually, and I would request it if it was allowed...but, and here's the question:

Why can't this effect be added to the .50 cal tracers?

I am of course well aware of the weapon mod not being allowed on any plane, but how does the smoke modify the weapon?

Just asking for an explanation of why this can't be added, and not intending to cross the boundary of requesting a weapon Mod...but what's the reason it can't be added...it is only smoke after all?

Cheers, MP.

You have to go into the CENSORED file for the tracers and edit that CENSORED file to add the path for tracers... I.E Weapon Mod.

Looks great! Reminds me of tracer fire in BOB/WOV. 8)

.....the Spitfire cannons should be changed also, but NOT the machine guns.
For the machine guns that didn't have smoke trails before (303, 50 cal, etc.) they will not have them now. [quote]

But why not Spits? The 303's left smoke trails also - or do you mean its actually not possible in game?

I don't know if it is possible or not Confusedhock: , but it is not only trail effect you can add mor other effects to but I think if you fix the script the next moment would be how to implement to each aircraft?
I think also the effect files are somehow integrated in maybe 3d model or some class file/files maybe handle it ?? I don't know!
BTW i'm not a programmer so Sad

I'm not a programmer either.
How did you figure out how to change the smoke in the first place? I have lots of time (even with a wife and three sons) and would love to do stuff like this for Il2.

So, NO!!

nought .50 .303 ................ a pity!

- RAF_Magpie - 11.07.2008

give it a break already!

- Mysticpuma - 11.07.2008

Magpie, as you can see from my Post, I deliberately pointed out that I am not looking for a weapon Mod, I just don't understand why the smoke 'is' a weapon mod, although looking at the Censored post, I think I can see what was being got at, and that's all I was looking for, just a reason why it couldn't be done, i.e, what effect it had on the actual .50-cal.

My understanding is that it doesn't alter the weapon itself, but the modification of a file that is associated with the weapon is what is actually seen as a 'Weapon Mod', so now I think I see why (for now) the .50 cannot have tracer smoke...maybe though...one day....?

Ah well one lives in hope, cheers, MP.
