volaaa - finaly I made it - it's running with long trains, mixed colums, damagede ships.... u name it !!!
and what did I do :?: just like the rest of you unlucky ones.... messed a lot :!:
I had this CTD on 70% game loading when I added the chief.ini file....
...what I think was the key is this:
(...in my ..
MODS - folder i have a
Static_AC - folder...)
1. I copyed the content of the
..MODS\Static_AC - folder in to the
MODS\STD - folder
(... that be all those
0B0FAD2A18BB4AD2 and like.. named files)
2. ...copyed the files
stationary.ini and
technics.ini in the
..MODS\Static_AC\com\maddox\il2\objects - folder to the coresponding level in the
STD - folder (
STD\com\maddox\il2\objects...)
3. Then I did edit the
stationary.ini and
technics.ini according to the instructions in the
Readme.txt suplied with the
ShipPack2
4. In the
..MODS\STD\i18n - folder I had this two files from earlier on:
plane_ru.properties
weapons_ru.properties
...in to the folder (
..MODS\STD ) I then added the
technics.properties - file suplied with the
ShipPack2 and renamed it to
technics_ru.properties
5. ....further I added copyes of the
tanks_ru.properties and
vehicle_ru.properties - files from the
"games-root"/files/i18n - folder.
6. Then I disabeled the
..MODS\Static_AC - folder by adding a "-" sign to the folder-name (
..MODS\-Static_AC)
7. And the main thing, the
ShipPack - folder I just added to the
..MODS- folder like this
..MODS\ShipPack
Hope some of you can make som use of this

Hey there everyone!
First of all a big thank you for the efforts put into this game by the modders. Having struggled with fixing the Ship Pack 2 problem, I can all the more appreciate the work necessary on their part to get these beautiful mods to run and the problems they have to solve. As such I am amazed that the mods usually DO work.
Ok, having said this, here is the situation I faced and how I solved it, based in no small part on the advice given on this board. I am just trying to rephrase in a more comprehensive way what I read here and interpreted with some trouble into the correct approach (for my particular, but seemingly not uncommon problem). Here it goes:
I) Starting situation:
Fresh Installation of 1946 with 4.08 patch
added basic mods of the Unified installer
added ShipPack2
added .ini files from the ShipPack2 to MODS\STD\com\maddox\il2\objects (note, I did not have any besides the air.ini there, so a merge was neither possible nor necessary).
II) Initial problem:
Games loads to 70%, then crashes to desktop (sounds familiar if you are reading this thread?)
III) Cause (Assumption on my part and from what I read here)
A conflict with the .ini files in MODS\Static_AC\com\maddox\il2\objects
IV) Solution (Worked for me in this precise case, might not if you are starting from a different installation
Downloaded Winmerge
http://www.winmerge.org/ and installed it
Started Winmerge, opened MODS\Static_AC\com\maddox\il2\objects\technics.ini and
MODS\STD\com\maddox\il2\objects\technics.ini and let the program merge them
into MODS\STD\com\maddox\il2\objects\technics.ini (careful, one exception, do not merge
the difference in the end, the missing ship related entries in the MOD\Static_AC file or it will delete
them).
repeat with the stationary.ini files
At this point, the ini files in STD should have all the entries from those in Static_AC
Check this by searching for the Spit Mk1 or the Beau Mk10 in the STD files
Finally, delete (AFTER BACKING THEM UP!!) the technics.ini and the stationary.ini file in
MODS\Static_AC
Check if this worked by starting IL-2 and checking in the Full Mission Builder if you can see the
Spit Mk1 under View -> Objects -> Stationary Aircraft
I hope this was helpful and if anyone of the more experienced user can give additional insights or correct anything I said, please do so, this was mostly the result of trial and error.

I'll wait for an installer much as I like this mod.

kinda off the current flow on this thread
But is anyone doing, or thinking of doing the Japanese Super Battleship Yamato, or any of the Japanese Battleships, also, is there a Ship Pack 3 any where in the winds
Thanks
Hi FC - farang65 - 10.11.2008
I Love all the new ships in this great mod.
Have used some in test mission for a map from Fabian Fred.
I started out with fresh ini files and NO PROBLEMS INSTALLING IT
Just copied and pasted everything in so to speak.
As you say in your read me if you don't have any problems your are an advanced user of the IL2
file structure.
Cheers Kirby

good azrael
I think your finds an solution confirms this:
1. in the MODS folder some wher, we have two or more files with same name....
( the wrapper thing makes the loading of files the way that the first ocurens of a file is the one that counts, that by alfabetic order and starting with the files in the MODS-folder, then otherwher in the IL2_games folder - ref this
(The link is inoperative)
2. In the case of ShipPack2 ther is a conflict betwen the Static_AC folder and the STD-folder...
( we both merged or eddited the two stationary.ini and technics.ini in to one ocurence of each - this to eliminate the major conflict problem )
This dubble-up filenames problem shuld be carefully checked along with launching new modds - pleas!!!
Then, how about new rewisions of mods undoing ouer fixes????
My self, I'll test new mods with installer (mods-name.exe) by installing in to a empty folder, an then check the filenames that popps up against what my games-folder already contains....
Gurus and other modders - is this a functional practice????
My problem is ... - Flying H - 10.11.2008
I do not have ANY original ships in my Objects, no vehicles or tanks after doing all the merging with the ship pack 2! Where did they all go? Originally I have installed the UI into a new 4.08 install then I have completed everything "to the book" but when finally wanting to use the SP2 it happened again!? Where does the game load the original ships, vehicles and trains from, into the FMB and the game? This really drives me nuts! It happened with the first install too, that
- flipp_coin - 13.11.2008
Hi, Flying H...
do a file searche in your "game install folder" and all sub-folders...
look for multiple instanses of .ini and .properties files...?
try the stationary.ini and technics.ini files first....
.....by the way, have you followed the instructions about merging stationary.ini and technics.ini according to the instructions in the Readme.txt suplied with the ShipPack2 ?????

In the technics file that is included with the Shippack2, It says shippack 1.0 under the line where the shippack starts. Is this ok? Does this matter?
- Guest - 17.11.2008
I DID IT! and i even added the destruction and longrangevisibility mod too HAAHHAHAHAHAH!
I bought all of the files you offered as inis except the ships ini which I had already, ahhhh. TY
- Guest - 17.11.2008
I lied. I did not do it. all is not well.....
I seem to have modded a backup folder
But I went back to just previous STD. prior to shippack, I DID NOT HAVE
stationary.ini
technics.ini
technics properties
chief.ini
SO I ADDED THE LINES THAT CAME WITH THE ship.ini fromSHIPPACK2
Crash 70%
SO I SEARCHED THE MODS FOLDER FOR OTHER COPIES OF ANY OF THESE FILES.
found a technics.ini in the TANKTEXTURES MOD. Ok so I deleted this mod for now.
Crash 70%
SO I SEARCHED THE FILES FOLDER FOR OTHER COPIES OF ANY OF THESE FILES
none except
plane_ru properties file
weapons_ru properties file
in the FILES/i18n
tried deleting these.
Crash 70%
I give up on the shippack for now
- Guest - 17.11.2008
wait there is still hope. There was a stationary and technics ini in the Static Aircraft Folder. Hmm, wonder why searching didn't find those 2.
Hmmm.
OK I have winmerged my way into happiness.
THANK YOU to whoever recommended WINMERGE.

Excellent job, Flipp_Coin! I've been struggling with the Ship Pack for some time, and with your helpful hints above, finally got it working.
I made some adjustments, but it still worked fine. Here's what I did, from the top down for the whole thing. I wanted to keep the "\MODS\Static_Aircraft" folder where it was, so ...
- EXTRACT: Contents of ShipPack2.rar to a working folder.
COPY: FOLDER \ShipPack2\Mods\ShipPack\ to \MODS\. Resulting path: \MODS\ShipPack
FIND FOLDER (IF PRESENT): \MODS\Static_Aircraft\
BACKUP FOLDER: \MODS\Static_Aircraft\
IF "FIND" DIRECTION ABOVE IS PRESENT (you have "static_aircraft" mod): MOVE FILES (not copy, MOVE): \MODS\Static_Aircraft\com\maddox\il2\objects\ 'stationary.ini' and 'static.ini' to \MODS\STD\com\maddox\il2\objects
DELETE SUB-FOLDERS WITHIN: \MODS\Static_Aircraft\
LEAVE IN PLACE, ALL FILES WITHIN \MODS\Static_Aircraft\ (all those hashed files with the meaningless names). Should be nothing but those hashed files left, no sub-folders.
EDIT FILE (With a text editor): \MODS\STD\com\maddox\il2\objects\stationary.ini, adding the content from \ShipPack2\AddTo Ini\ 'stationary.ini.txt' to the bottom of the original file. Save edited file.
COPY FILE (IF NOT PRESENT IN DESTINATION FOLDER): \ShipPack2\Mods\STD\i18n\Technics.properties to \MODS\STD\i18n\- IF PRESENT IN DESTINATION FOLDER: BACKUP original, then edit file with content from \ShipPack2\AddTo Ini\Technics.properties.txt
COPY FILE (IF NOT PRESENT IN DESTINATION FOLDER): \ShipPack2\Mods\STD\com\maddox\il2\objects\chief.ini to \MODS\STD\com\maddox\il2\objects\- IF PRESENT IN DESTINATION FOLDER: BACKUP original, then edit file with content from \ShipPack2\AddTo Ini\Chief.ini.txt
COPY FILE (IF NOT PRESENT IN DESTINATION FOLDER): \ShipPack2\Mods\STD\com\maddox\il2\objects\ships.ini to \MODS\STD\com\maddox\il2\objects\- IF PRESENT IN DESTINATION FOLDER: BACKUP original, then edit file with content from \ShipPack2\AddTo Ini\Ships.ini.txt
All worked as advertised, allowing me to add custom ships via FMB. Even used the Graf Zeppelin in a mission... Screenshots:

Followed your instructions exactly SandMan. It however did NOT work for me. I can't believe how ridiculously difficult this mod is to get working.
