That is true, and i do prefer planes that have been operational in frontline units during the war over the "what-if" ones, but we do need a few 1946 machines for every nation. Now we have a lot of German, several Russian and a handful of American 1946 birds, we would need to balance them out with proper Japanese, British and other nations counterparts. So this mod would fit very nicely with what we already have and i can hardly wait for it to be done
Also if someone took up making stuff like Mitsubishi J8M Shusui (and no, it wasn't really just a Japanese produced Me-163), Nakajima Kikka, Ki-201 Karyu, J8N1 Renzan... we would then have the proper "what if" set for the 1946 battles over Japanese mainland - a campaign maybe where the bombs have not been dropped on Japan and Operation Coronet takes place...

This is no real what-if in my book, as it actually was flown in trials.
there is even film footage of it:

no combat maybe, but such a unique design!
all you nay-sayers: can you resist download and install when it is available?
I say, bring it on! 震電!
天皇陛下万歳 (If I am allowed, Kodama-san)

It's still a "what-if" in my book, since it never was operational... same goes for every prototype regardless if flown or not, only the types that were adopted for operational service aren't "what if".
But being "what if" doesn't make them unworthy - i welcome every mod that comes out, they all add something unique to the game we love...

As for 1946 planes for the Japanese, I'd really like to see the J8N1 Renzan and the A6M8 version of the Zero in addition to the J7W1 Shinden.

slotted flap and plane flap(elevator) was added.
But the deploy angle is not accurate yet.
