thank you for your explanation m8, and I hope you can solve this limitation of your good work as to use your map freely and not influenced by this limitation :if is not possible to change name of your map folder this is quite annoying and not useless (at least for me) and I hope you will go to make this feature.regards

- GilB57 - 10.12.2008

Hmmm, I don't exactly know what is the problem for you with this limitation... anyway, I suppose I won't change anything (sorry) because I didn't create this map, but it's a IL2 team work . It would be different with a map entirely new

Problems with installation - Ronco - 13.12.2008

Hello @ all!

I have seen those beautiful pictures of the Slovakia Winter map and tried to install it as explained.

But obiously a problem occured.

After running the installer I got the new folder:
"...\IL-2 Sturmovik 1946\MODS\MAPMODS\maps\Mbug_Slovakia_winter" as described (containing 13 files)

Unfortunately I do not get the folder:
...\IL-2 Sturmovik 1946\MODS\MAPMODS\maps\_Tex\winter\Mbug_texturename.tga"

I checked the folders and found out that I got the folder/file:
"...\IL-2 Sturmovik 1946\MODS\MAPMODS\maps\_Tex\land\winter"
which contains 32 files, all starting with "Mbug_..." and some other files which obviously belong to
a BoB map. But there is no file "Mbug_texturename.tga" available.

Does anybody how to proceed to solve the problem.
Thank you very much in advance.

Ronco

Hi Ronco,

It will be a pleasure if I will be able to help you as you made me often enjoy with all you fantastic skins Smile

Looking your question and comparing with my installation, I don't find any Mbug_texturename.tga file Sad Why you need this ?

What I do when I want to install a map (or a mod) is to install/extract the files into a clean temporary folder (like C:\TEMP) instead of directly on the game one.
After that, I move the folders and eventually modify configuration files with new stuff bout the mod

For Slovakia winter map, after extraction, I have 2 main folders that contain files :
...\MODS\Mapmods\Maps\Mbug_Slovakia_winter
...\MODS\Mapmods\Maps\_Tex\land\winter

As you say, in first folder there are 13 files
In second folder, there are 32 files (.tga)

After moving these folders at correct place in game directories, I copy the new entry for this map into the all.ini file
Mbug_Slovakia_winter Mbug_Slovakia_winter/load.ini

- may-bug - 14.12.2008

Hi all,

@ Ronco,
you don't need "IL-2 Sturmovik 1946\MODS\MAPMODS\maps\_Tex\winter\Mbug_texturename.tga": this file does not exist Big Grin ...
It was just an example to explain the files structure: I should have written: Mbug_[texturename].tga where [texturename] is ... the name of the texture ...
If you simply run the installer, the map should work OK.
Sorry for misunderstanding, my fault

And sorry too for no update yet, I'm not at home (I don't know when I'll come back, certainly after the week-end).

may-bug.

Slovakia winter missions. - madcop - 15.12.2008

The last part of the instructions says:

3: Mbug_Slovakia_winter Mbug_Slovakia_winter/load.ini
copy to : \MODS\MAPMODS\maps\

This doesn't seem to work nor to be in line with the usual sort of instructions with installing maps. If it's supposed to be a line added to the all.ini, well that is already done ahead of time obviously, or you wouldn't even have the Slovakia winter map.

But if the line is supposed to be added somewhere else, then where?

Or are we supposed to add the load.ini from the Slovakia winter map to the folder itself?

Any additional clarification?
yes, to load.ini to add folder itself

Hello , there ,and thanks for your effort.
I can't get it working. Each time I choose Mbug Slovakia Winter in QMB plus and that I choose a red or blue mission , I receive the "Wrong Target Selected " warning panel.
I do not know what's going wrong. All my folder structure has been respected .
1-MODS/MAPMODS/MAPS/ (Added Mbug_Slovakia_winter as requested)
2-MODS/MAPMODS/MAPS/-Tex/winter ( Added all the Mbug.....tga files)
3-MODS/MAPMODS/MAPS/all.ini (modified as requested)
4-MODS/QMBPlus/Mission /quick(add all the .mis files there)
5-MODS/MAPMODS/MAPS/ copied and pasted the Mbug_Slovakia_Winter load.ini there and let it in the Mbug_Slovakia_Winter folder as well
5-Il-2/Conf.ini ( modified as requested)
6-Il-2/missions/quick ( added 13 Blue and Red Mbug_Slovakia....mis files there.)
Please help me , I am desperate ! these screenshots are so nice !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Thanks a lot
Madcop

Hi Oizo and may-bug,

thank you very much for your support.

After I have installed it a third time I finally got it working.
Maybe I have overlooked something before.

By the way, I am not THE Ronnco. My capability to create skins is equal to zero.

Thanks again for that brilliant looking map.

Ronco

WONDERFUL map may_bug! Absolutely gorgeous! A worthy companion to the stock Slovakia map.

I am having a small problem though. I tried this:
Quote:For those who want to have the winter default skins for aircrafts, just open the load.ini file (IL-2 Sturmovik 1946\MODS\MAPMODS\maps\Mbug_Slovakia_winter\load.ini) with notepad and replace:
[WORLDPOS]
CAMOUFLAGE = SUMMER

by:

[WORLDPOS]
CAMOUFLAGE = WINTER
but didn't get winter skins for Stationary or flying aircraft. I went to the stock Ardennes winter map to make sure I still had default winter skins and placed Stationary and flying aircraft and did gett the default winter skins.
Is there something else I should check?

Hi

Maybe not the best moment to ask questions, but I have a little problem :

When trying to use your textures on other maps, I get a very weird error : The map will load in FMB, but then freeze the program after just a few mouse movements, and when trying to fly in QMB+, loading will freeze at 100%, without giving me a load.ini error. I've checked the load.ini several times over, but since I don't get an error message, I don't know what kind of error to look for.

Oh, and while I'm here : MERRY CHRISTMAS ALL ! Big Grin

Cheers

Nico

When trying to use your textures on other maps,
_________________________

Odd, since I have used these same textures on many other maps with no problems encountered at all. Sometimes the added houses in town/city are not aligned to the 'street's on the textures, but that is no big deal really.

I do however lift ALL the textures from the winter_slovakia map load.ini as an integral replacement into the load.ini files of new maps.

When replacing textures one by one, however, that too gives problems ...

Slovakia summer - ffly - 28.12.2008

this may sound stupid, but where can I find download for the original Slovakia summer map? I searched in the forum, even googled on the web, but couldn't find it any more. Thanks. :?:
