Now if you'd just replace that old crutch MSPaint with Paint.NET....

Hey, don't knock it. All you need is a little patience and you can put out some pretty amazing stuff.
In all seriousness, though, CS2 is pretty much all I need these days.

PS CS2 is all I use as well. Works just great for me.

It's an option. The "Hades" is not in the main cockpit folder by default. It takes an action of the user to copy the stick.tga file from the "Grip_Hades_475FG_431FS" directory into the main cockpit folder.
You can switch to any version, by copying that version into the main folder. Your choices apart from the 431st FS emblem are:
Grip_Org
Grip_Improved
Grip_Lockheed_White
Grip_Lockheed_Emboss
Same for the instrument panel. It's in the original readme.

Hi, think there is a problem with mine some where, no cockpit, you appear out side of the cockpit as if there is no cockpit, you cannot go in. Like a class issue. Any ideas? As it is all working for you guys I assume it is a conflict my side, got any ideas without me having to look at the classes?

If it happened after the patch, it would be one of the tga files I think? Did you have Version 1.1 installed when you patched? What cockpit resolution are you running; LR, MR or HR? Have you tried the other cockpit resolutions too, renaming all to "-", except the one you want to try?
Sizes of the TGA files should be (Windows might round the number):
192kB (256x256 24Bit)
256kB (256x256 32Bit)
768kB (512x512 24Bit)
1024kB (512x512 32Bit)
3072kB (1024x1024 24Bit)
4096kB (1024x1024 32Bit)
Does your directory structure still look like this? (Example for the MR version)

My guess is that you have another P-38 cockpit mod still active and causing a conflict. Have you ruled this out? The mods that I am aware of that could possibly conflict are Tyrl's P38 repaint or my earlier P38 gunsight mod.

JAMF!
1st things 1st
Thank you for the 38 cockpits! They are beautful!
Now for some feedback.. Not sure if anyone brought this up yet, I have not read all the pages.
But did you know the gas guages are off?
That is to say they show you have about a 1/4 of a tank left when you get the OUT OF FULE message.
With that said, quick question, if I del the tga files associated with the guages, will it use the default 38 gas guages? Just a thought until they get fixed

No, I didn't. I think you are the first to run out of fuel.
Thank you for finding this little bug.
Now, deleting the gauges2.tga would give you one old fuel indicator back (top one), but also the old tri-engine-indicator, the old manifold and the old rpm indicator. (
*JAMF shudders at the thought)
Would you be happy if I made a red mark on the gauges where the "empty" value would be? [EDIT] Empty is the one "dash" before the "empty" mark on the top fuel gauge.
- NonWonderDog - 13.06.2009
It shouldn't be too hard to recalibrate the gauges. From a quick look, it seems that the fuel gauges need a couple quick edits in hier.him and the java class.
A couple of the other gauges seem to be slightly off, too. I'll see if I can give them a good going over and PM you the results. Maybe I'll try to make the temperature gauges more useful, too, although I really don't know what temperature level should correspond to the overheat message.
[EDIT] Yuck, the fuel gauges were all screwed up even before this mod. Instead of having the zero point at -60 degrees, they had the zero point at -49.5 degrees and were scaled up 32%. To top it all off, the gauges went from 0 to 1250 kg of fuel, when the flight model data says that the P-38 only carries 1164 kg of fuel (which, combined with the screwup in the zero level, made the gauge point to 100% when full).
I think I'll try to do this the right way and give them nonlinear scales and make the main tank needle move to zero before the reserve tank needle moves. I take back what I said about "quick edits."

You've got a PM in a bit. I think Poncho wouldn't mind if I spread the workload a little? If need be, you could split the tasks that need doing between yourselves?
