I am STUNNED at how incredible this terrain is ! I don't know I can fly over the old IL-2 maps again. They'll look rediculous! And you' re building the Japanese home islands, too? Can't wait to see that. I also just noticed that you are almost finished with Iwo Jima. Finally, something to get me away from the Channel map! Terrific. Please keep it up. You are single-handedly going to change the way maps are rendered in this sim. And it will keep IL-2 looking up to date and state of the art for years to come.

Thanks Pooch.
Many many efforts and i'm each day impressed bye the good feedbacks here. Thanks
"I don't know I can fly over the old IL-2 maps again". Same conclusion...this is why other projects are under way but the final goal is to have a final homogeneous game. And this means......remap all.

Funny right? Who would have bet it 6 years ago? there are many many limitations in the game engine, but our collective efforts make us push away the frontier.

Just retexturing. I don't have the knowledge to make a map from A to Z now, but stock Kyushu is not too bad, his retexturing potential is tremendous. People would be REALLY impressed to realise how even with a fast retexturing of this map it is a real pleasure to fly in after. This map it's already rextured and base on WhiteCat load.ini modification : but this time I will apply all learned things from Okinawa work.
Iwo Jima is only in the begining process. I posted the topic just to have the first reactions.
Stay tuned

Just curious.
How many downloads do you have for the map? I have 278 in total before people started to have downloading problems.
thanks

hum don't know if this will be enough. At that period japan used many wood for constructions. I will change these textures for V2.
thanks for idea i will see it can bring

REALLY STUNNING !
Just one idea concerning the heights changes on stock maps : don't forget that some strange results may happen in online game (if server hasn't the same version of the map) : planes going inside mountains without damage or exploding against air

Maybe find parts of Asia that still are consturcted that way and use it to create a tile to paint over the modern construction in photoship?

OMG, redko this map look gorgeous!
Are you using GAPA in any of these pics? and if so, what settings are you using?

Hi Philip.ed how are you mate ?
Nop. As this time the goal is to show pics of the hard work i did to repaint this map there is absolutly NO gapa mode on the pics and NO photoshop at all. I wanted to show this work with the most neutral way as possible.
In some pics I puted the hour and climat conditions....if you use the same you will have the same.
I will post later some edited pics for fun....but i'm really busy now because i'm doing the same work for 5 other maps !
Be patient.

Maybe parts of Burma will still be pretty backwards in time that way....their repressive government doesn't spend money on anything but arms.
