OK! Should i install that new wrapper or not? Is this the procedure:
1. Install 1l2 pathced to 408 or 409b
2. sound mod .90 or latest 093
3. wrapper
4 map mods
Sound mod worked fine so did new maps in previous install.My game is in different HD than Windows, but that should not cause any problems
Im getting fuukin frustrated here... i really, really want to make that map :evil: :evil: at least to myself and get things working.
Belive or not, i have been working as a PC helpdesk and i have been usin pc since 91 for making music, photos and even little bit programming (Lingo)and videos so i though i could handle this...
God, i guess i had to read all the Tuts again.I might have missed something. This can be Bitch sometimes.
I know that you guys have done hard work for this, so i imagine all the shit you been thru. So Big Bows for that and if i am real pain, just lemme know :oops:

it looks about right ..... leave files folder as it was ( don't need filelist.txt anymore)
make new "maps" folder in game root .... that one is for unlocked FMB and you should be fine

I got my il2 tuned to for some serious Moddings, so here i am again.... I did some testing and put few houses and bridges in Daz No NO FMB . Ghanced to YA YA FMB and selected the fuukin first plane (Boston) and
:-Captain K to Aseshouston and FLY_zo central.
- This is a small step to Moddin Community but a giant leap to Kapteenis Lapland ....

I dont get this. I patched my Il21946 to modfriedly 409 beta and something odd happened. I can edit every other modded maps and put ogjects and stuff and save them, but if i create new map to map folder and rename it i cant open any in FMB. i get always: Cant load 2d Maps, ed_m01.tga and
ed_m02.tga files are missing in load.ini and yet they are there. Here is load.ini for my Lapland:

All the pictures+ other files are in IL-2 Sturmovik 1946\maps\Lapland_44-45 folder. FMB finds the string to my new map, but cant read load.ini correctly. Everything else works fine: sound mods, game runs perfectly. I can install new mods and so.
I tryed even make a test map by copying an other map and renamed it to Testi1 and same result. Cant load 2D Bla blaa thing.
Good thing is that i can edit other maps with Unlocked FMB :lol:

I forgot to tell you that i edited my tgas with er.... "modded" Phostohop CS3 extended.Should i use Gimp. I did read from some other post that CF3 cant handle greyscale pctures right...
God i hope not. I hate Gimps GUI

Did you save your ed_01 and 02 as colour RGB or indexed colour with no transparency (alpha channel)? Is ed_02 the same pixel size as map_h? If you are not sure about the image format to save in, open up one of IL2s and check the format, and then ensure you save yours in the same way.
Map_c, H and T use 256 levels of greyscale, but they do not always need all 256 levels depending on the map design. I believe that Photoshop uses a different scale and can lead to strange effects, but others can advise you on this. I had problems when manipulating data for my map_h in Photoshop, so I have not used it since. Gimp does work in producing IL2 maps, and many of us use it. Just wish its image stretching had more options. Different from Photoshop in many ways, but it is free and no requirement to be "modded" if you do not own it!
Hopefully your problem is linked to something mentioned above.

I did try your conf.ini. Did not help. Still cant parse files. I must check the rgb values. Perhaps IL2 does not find my ed_01 and 02
because of that.
Downloading Gimp ASAP. Maybe that helps.
hock: At least i must learn GIMP now :wink: . This has been one of the weirdest winter holidays ever.
BTW! I even did full virusscan just in case. LOL!

Your maps are OK, it was your load.ini that was at fault, on my machine anyway. Are you using the wrapper? Is your Lapland map folder in the same dir as the IL2 ones? All I had to do was place your map folder in the same one I use for the extracted IL2 maps, change the all.ini to show I had the Lapland folder in there and then amend your load.ini to the one I posted. Worked OK.

Glad to here that the files are OK. Yes. I have the wrapper. There must be something fundamentally wrong. I think i dont put maps in right folder. Here is what i have done. Example is Lapland map:
(1. created maps folder in IL2 Root for unlocked FMB for saving)
2. Added my Lapland folder in mods folder, that game with wrapper
-copied your load.ini to Lapland folder lad.ini and saved it
3. Added text Lapland lapland/load.i in files/maps folder/all.ini
Opened the game, went to FMB. Open map: Lapland. Error.
I must be missing somethin here...

A_Files\Maps\Lapland_44-45. I found all the modded maps here: \Ubisoft\IL-2 Sturmovik 1946\MODS\MAPMODS\maps. Do i had to create folder A_files\Maps to MOD or just rename my MAPMODS toA_files? Or is A_files just in your machine?
When i extracted mrz2_Malta map it went to \IL-2 Sturmovik 1946\MODS and it works fine
I suppose i can just copy my IL-2 Sturmovik 1946\files\maps\all.ini to MODS and thats it.
I think i try to put my Lapland in MODS rootfolder+copy all.ini and fix it in there too. Lets see what happenes!!
PS: The wrapper wants to put all mods in MODS root folder, right?

I have tryed about everything i can possible know. Even reinstalled 1946. I think I m fukin too old for this
I`m almost done. Maybe somewere in distant future these tools are bit easier to use. I really wanted to fly over a map that i created myself... .
I know that guys who already have help me have their own projects and i dont wanna waist their time on this excercice. I think after few weeks there will be heaps of Tutorials, even videos about mapmaking. So i guess i`ll had to wait a while
Its fun to watch and how this community creates something new everyday. Boy do those screenies of SLOT, Falklands, Croatia look good
It would be cool to have somebody to share things, but i know that ww2 Arctic theater in 1944-45 is not that intresting, except for Finns . Norwegians did not have airforce at the time ,they were just watching (Not All of them). Well, Swedish campaign "Heroes of Sveamammas SKy" with 300 missions patrolling around borders would be fun in very, very wierd ways :lol:

Never too old, I think you would be surprised at the age of some the map modders on here!
"A_Files" is just on my machine. What happens if you replace all the malta files with yours? You should be able to select malta in the FMB and it will load yours.
Sometimes naming files etc is an issue, there have been plenty of times when I have named a file wrong and not noticed, then end up going around in circles banging my head. You should hear the things I call myself when I notice my mistake :oops: . Worth double checking, then checking again.
Your map does work!
