Th!rdeye Wrote:Ok everyone.
I made 2 installing options for those who do have Josse's mod. Chances are, if you don't know which mod we are talking about then you don't have it.
For the people having trouble. 2 things to try. First. Uninstall my mod (i.e delete it completely so its not on your system anymore)
Now go to the search feature on windows. Click Start on your explorer bar and click Search (its above Run) Now search for all files and folders, then type in the filename "37_Burn.eff" without the quotes. If you find this file in your mods after you delete mine, then remove that mod because it is conflicting with mine. Also check for the filenames "20_burn" and 20_smokeboiling.
Second thing to try. Rename my "Weapon_Effects" folder to "3rdeye_Weapon_Effects" It should load before all of the others.
If it works after than then you know its a mod conflict.
Try what i said above. This mod uses these files. If you have any duplicates, its ok to delete them.
MAKE SURE YOU HAVE ALL OF THESE FILES
If those ideas don't work, then i don't know. Other people with mods are getting it to work. I made this mod using .93, newest wrapper, and 4.09. Good Luck.

Well, those are all the effects that i have in my IL-2 folder.
You must try out how it is working with all those .eff files, before official releasing.
And also,do i have to change something from my conf.ini file?
Something in the Effects=*?
Cos mine is Effects=2.

I have my effects at 2 aswell. See if it works at 3.

I finally made this nice mod to work at my system. It took quite a lot of time, but here's the result: there's a GFX file called "SmokeMkII.tga" in Slipry's Ground Dust Mod... Removing just this file enables Th!rdeye's mod. Putting it back to GroundDust\3do\Effects\Textures folder -- disables the Weapon Hit Effect mod... For those who can't enable the mod -- try it... Good luck.
Btw: after removing the SmokeMkII.tga file be prepared to get not very nice too much dense and too much black wreckage smoke:
If anyone know how to fix it -- please tell...
My best wishes,
Mangas.

Hm,does the removing of this file affect the "Engine Start Flames" mod?
- Catahoulak9 - 17.07.2008
Yes I believe so Gringo, or at least mine stopped flaming and went back to smoke when I "-" out the SmokeMkII.tga file. The hit effect looks great now though.

Well, at my system it doesn't. These are two different mods made by Slipry: "EngineSmoke" and "GroundDust"... Removing "SmokeMkII" affects "GroundDust" only... At least it seems so...
Best wishes,
Mangas.

You're right Mangas.
My flames quit working because I moved the mod from my old Files folder to my MODS folder, not because I disabled my SmokeMkII.tga file.
Thanks for tracking down the problem with the SmokeMkII file. It's a nice effect.

Any chance of getting these two mods to work together? Mangas is right, the black smoke from downed aircraft is incredibly thick. Nevertheless, I really like the way this particular mod works, and would like to keep and the dustmod working together.
- Th!rdeye - 17.07.2008
I'm looking into it guys. Please be patient.
- Yeager - 18.07.2008
No worries and thank you Th!rdeye, it's much appreciated. I'm putting up with the thick black smoke for the weapons effects at this point.
- Guest - 18.07.2008
Yeah i can confirm, the removing of that .tga file is making the new gun hit effect mod to work normally.
- Th!rdeye - 18.07.2008
OK everyone who had problems, before you removed the smoke tga, what was the effect you got on the weapon hits? Did you just have the flash with no smoke?
- Catahoulak9 - 18.07.2008
Yes, as far as I could tell there was flash but no smoke.
