Awesome work. I love the leather style on the gunsight.

A real shame, and a real loss to this site if thats the case.
... + 1 million ....

Well...its a Christmas gift so... Merry Christmas Freddy! And Thanks. Hope you don't take too many of the paranoid people too seriously... afterall... its only a game.

I too hope Freddie will reconsider his decision of not sharing his works with the "big and noisy crowd". Now, I can only imagine how his P47s looks like...
Freddie... if you redo the P38s and you don't share with us... I'll hate you forever!
C'mon Freddie... what's the point in "punishing" the whole world for some minor and missplaced bad comments?
Pleeease?
P.S. I think the new night lighting is better... sure is "de gustibus" but, is more subtle and less a la Kawasaky Ninja retina burning green (I do like that color though).

The night lighting is excellent in my book, like it alot..
But lets stop pestering the guy now.. if he gives us more, then thats great, if not, then thats our tough luck.
he's obviously thrown his teddy into the bottom corner of his cockpit, for why I'm not sure as the vast majority of all comments have been sending him up like the new messiah!

I don t want to punish nobody ....
My problem is with some rules , I think the modders are free , and they are working for free don t forget that ...
My cockpits comes with MDV changes , and it s forbidden here , so I ll don t talk about that , but I don t think it s a good way , too much problems with the stock planes and unhistorical MDV ....

Hey Freddy, I'm curious... The files that you have for the gunsight in this "repaint"... will they work for the YP-80 as well?
- zaelu - 14.12.2008
MDV means FM-DM-WM (flight-damage-weapon models) changes?
if so... can't they be removed for compatibility with AAA rules?
- Murph - 14.12.2008
Why include MDV changes in a mod that changes the appearance of a plane's cockpit? It does'nt make sense to me.
Does the 51D 'pit include such changes? If so, I'd rather not use it, nice though it is.
- HH_Harley - 14.12.2008
Getting that sun through the control panel too. Only problem with the repaint. Just needs that annoyance fixed.

I for one am thankful to AAA for keeping the tight grip on the so called "FM/DM fixes". This is the only way to keep this game alive online. Thanks AAA admin for keeping a cool head and seeing the big picture.
Thank you for standing against the "fixes" to fit one guy's perception of the reality.
There are plenty of problems with the stock game but, if you flew enough a lot of planes you'll see that all planes are porked and blessed in some way.
Sure we could easily "fix them" but that would mean having a different game compared with the other players and ruins the online experience for all.
Freddy I love the outstanding job you did on the cockpits and I'm grateful for your gift to the community. But in the same time would be great if you would be able to see the big picture and understand why AAA admins don't allow toying with the FM/DM part of the game.
Looks like you are decided to only release the great cockpit repaint if it comes with your FM/DM "fixes". If that is the case you can keep the repaint. To me keeping the game equal for everyone is more important then having new paint.
Is really sad to loose the great work of Freddy, but if that is what it takes to keep the game clean, then I'm suporting AAA in this.
I sure hope Freddy you can see the big picture.

No, its clear of those modifications.

I've stuck my neck out and approved this, and uploaded it to the AAA server. Moved to Cockpit Repaints Download section.
Nice work Freddy.

I'm not sure if this is the problem but i saw this posted in the 3D modeling tutorials:
Quote:-No alpha material in pit frames or walls because sun will shine through the alpha materials (engine limitation i guess)
I hope that helps.
- Birdman - 14.12.2008
Just two suggestions to make that excellent cockpit better:
1. Could you please remove some alpha channels so that sun doesn't shine through metal parts anymore?
2. Could you please ask 3d experts to change the texture mapping of the simplest added meshes so that whole texture would be used? I mean the meshes using those large 1024x1024 textures with only bottom left corner used. With changed texture mapping in meshes those textures could be replaced with smaller 512x512 textures wihtout any detail loss. That would save a lot of graphics memory and help a lot of people with fps problems. With this change also the beautiful Bf-109 cockpits would have smaller textures and cause less FPS loss compared to the ugly original.
So could someone give Freddy a remapped mesh to enable players with lower end graphics cards to enjoy Freddy's beautiful work? With working 3d converter that shouldn't be too difficult nowadays.
BTW, that mesh would give Freddy's squad better FPS and improve results.
