The Ki-45 Kai Hei with pointed nose were equiped with 1xHo-3 20mm in the belly tunnel and one Ho-203 37mm in the nose cone.
The Ki-45 Kai Tei was equiped with the same armament as above plus 2xHo-5 oblique-mounted between pilot and rear-gunner/radio stations. Some Ho-3 guns were removed to gain weight. Some earlier models (with rounded nose) had instead 2xHo103 12,7mm machine-guns oblique-mounted in place of the Ho-5.
Few Tei models were specially modifed with no armament but with an explosive charge in the rear-station as suicide attack aircraft the aim being to crash into a flying B-29.

yes. the early version with 2 50cal upward firing is called the KO_TEI version (one ho3 in the belly,2 ho 103 in the nose and 2ho 103 upward).i think this was only a field conversion like,in new guinea, some KOs had a 37mm anti tank manually loaded
cannon.later the cannon went in production with the OTSU version.
the ho3 cannon didnt equipped other fighters because it was heavy and had a low rate of fire.it was hard to shoot a one engine fighter but good for large flying target or ground, naval purpose.

Ki 45 Toryu please! - baronbutcher - 27.01.2010

Kashiide any idea of a aprox. release date for your fanastic mod. Love to see ki 45 Toryu up and flying! 8)

hi baron butcher.the ki 45 is far to be completed(doing the base model is 20 percent of the modelling process.and i dont speak about cockpit, coding, and importation!!).the model you can see on this forum was really unaccurate.i used drawings on internet and they where totally wrong!!
plus, the modelling was too poly heavy and not good looking.
i m remaking it with clear and accurate drawings.
so ,im sorry but you will have to wait a long time for this....

Your effort on the Toryu is much appreciated.

Kashiide!

No problems. Take your time! There are not many people capable of doing what you are doing. It will be very good!

Toryu sometime! - baronbutcher - 29.01.2010

Kashiide! Thanks for the feedback. Your work appreciated. I can see now that it's a big project and some flaws were in the shape but your work is very good. The Toryu will make a great plane for the series - most needed and welcomed. We have a long wait looking forward to this colourful twin. 8)
