Agreed, and I still think it would be great if you had more or less all countries under both blue and red.
This way you can simulate incidents where US fighters fought Soviet ones towards the end of WW2, postwar, and in the Cold War.
When I see planes like the Yak-15, Mig-9, P-80 etc, I don't see fictional 1946 scenarios, I see early cold war.
I just thought I'd bring it up since you added Managua.

Mmmmh... why have 2 Italia under blue side ??? seems quite strange to me...
sounds like adding files in the software, making it heavier without really changing nothing... except increasing of making it slower !!!
Actually, we have 42 countries. It is quite a lot, if we thing that at the beginning, there were only 24 or 28...
Metatron... I still think the same about making all nations red and blue... this sim is a WW2 sim, not a cold war one... also, making what you ask will probably make it quite heavy...
- fabianfred - 16.04.2008
any chance of the thai air force....they fought the french in indo-china and the japanese too
- Metatron - 16.04.2008
Ok Gaston, no problem. I'm just brainstorming.

Mmmh... fabianfred,,, if I am right, they fought against Vichy France and against the Japanese, right ??? not against any other Allies ??? I ask this because I want to know if I will put Thailand in red or blue... as Vichy France and Japanese are blue, I will do Thailand in red... just tell me, OK ???
By the way... a few times ago, I had a very interesting reading about a naval battle between Vichy France and Thailand...

i agree with this concept
100%
re; ww2 sim - yes; but she deserves to grow - at least for korea...

Manchukuo?
- ILV_Aquila_Noctis - 16.04.2008
Thought of that one, too....but we'll need a (chinese) name for it, for the alternate files...and anyway, we're trying to fix the roundel-problem first....and no countries will be added until fixed

Well, in practice after harmistice, Italy was cut in half, with the souther part still being formally the italian kingdom (just changing side), while norther part became a republic with it's own air force, flanking Germany for approx two years...

You are Gitano... but as we already have Italy in red and blue, I do not see the utility to create a second blue Italy... but what we can eventually do is add 2 or 3 ANR squadrons to the existing Italy !!!
Just give me numbers and insignas...
And Manchukuo... yes, could be interesting... but :
-did its Air Force really fight ???
-we should have some Chinese maps to use it, no ???
this leads me to another question : did anyone hear about an eventual Chinese speechpack ???

Yes....red would be most suitable for the Thai Air force....BTW they changed from a roundel to their flag because of the similarity to the French roundel....I'll have to ask at the Thai flight forum where they put the new markings though.

Well, Thai Air Force is complicated. They had Japanese planes and were more or less Japanese allied. At the same time, they fought against Vichy, and at the same time they invaded Burma helping the Japanese. What a mess....
And about Manchukuo.....We HAVE a map: the Manchuria map. Manchuria is the same as Manchukuo. Manchukuo planes fought briefly against Soviets in 1945. Very funny: you in a Ki-27 or Ki-43 against some La-7 or Yak-9!

About Italy.
Regia Aeronautica, Italy in IL2, was disbanded after 8th september 1943.......so it did't exist anymore after that day. From IL2's Italy (Regia Aeronautica), after 8th september 1943, borned two different AF:
- ICAF (Italian Coobelligerant Air Force - Aeronautica Cobelligerante Italiana);
- ANR (Aeronautica Nazionale Repubblicana) (

The second one, continued to fight in the Axis side mainly with 2 Fighter Groups (1

Historically, I agree with you, Veltro.
But I think that one Italy under blue side, whether it is the Regia Aeronautica or the ANR, is enough...
