I wonder if some steam could be added coming from the slot of the catapult. That would be so cool...

The only thing missing now would be some actors and tractors on the CV deck .... any ideas?

The steam catapult was invented by the British and first tested in 1950, it's introduction into use occurred in the mid-1950's. Catapults used in WW II and Korea were hydraulic.

Ok, well if uses hydraulics fine,, then add that needed UUmmph! though we don't need hydaulic oil spraying out...

Well, cut off my legs and call me, shorty, this thing really works. Hats off for a job well done.
Opens all kinds of possibilities . Thanx a whole bunch!

- duffys tavern - 09.03.2009

Launched a fully loaded P-47 off CVE, 20 kts wind across the deck, off Saipan. No sweat!
Now if we can get the AI boys to launch as well...

- Boris The Spider - 09.03.2009

HOT DAM! This is a great mod! Thanks SOOO much!

I just tried using the Catapult on the Illustrious and it worked fine for me. I can finally take a Seafire w/4 60lb rockets off from it. (although I had the speed set so fast originally that is was like a jet takeoff.) Big Grin

Hang on he will be working on that too.

So have u increased the power yet?

- VF-51_Cobraj - 09.03.2009

The next release will be an auto adjusting cat pressure based on total weight when spawning on deck. Testing is being done now and Fireball will post when testing is complete. I must say it works pretty dang sweet!

Stay Tuned!!

But.....no catapults on the Lexington/Saratoga/Generic US Carriers? Ahhhh. Cry

Will they be added before the final release? (please, please, please?)

Thanks yet again for this GREAT mod. (insert bowing emoticon here)

I don't believe that the early US carrier's had them. It would be unhistorical to add it i assume.

- BH_Blue - 10.03.2009

I tried the catapult with my second favourite a/c the P-47, and when i release chocks to launch it seems like the 47 bumps into something just as it leaves the deck and it canes the speed and throws off the balance. I realise the 47 wasnt a carrier plane, was just wondering if anyone else has experienced this with any other a/c.

Right you are but...I'm hoping that at least the Generic US Carrier be fitted with them. That way it could be used for jet launches for post war Korean/cold war missions/campaigns. If the P-80 mod with working tailhook gets released is would be a natural, especially if bombs and/or rockets was a loadout option.
Think "Bridges of Toko-Ri".

I had that happen with a Corsair with one drop tank and a couple of napalms. I figured it was because I am too heavy  Removing the ordnance and fuel did it for me.
