UltraPack is just as easy to use, and it includes HSFX. It is quite a lot bigger than HSFX and some people don't like the FMs of some P-51s.
I have ultrapack, but HSFX is nice too.
Thank you very much for the advice, patience and pointing me in the right direction. I really appreciate it. You're very kind. However, I don't have the patience to deal with "Torrents". I'm not that familiar with them. I have heard negative stories regarding "Torrents" and have been told to stay away from them. So, better safe than sorry I always say. Besides, I find the concept behind them extremely confusing and difficult to understand. I'll just keep looking and waiting for a commercial release of a Korean war era flight sim even though, I know I may be waiting for a while.

I TOTALLY AGREE WITH THIS SENTIMENT! I would download this in a heart beat if it WEREN'T A TORRENT. I'm Very disappointed that it isn't made available also as a simple and secure download. I'm sure it is fantastic though from the screen shots and videos I've seen online.
Re: For All Users: Getting your game Running with HSFX 4.1 - Murph - 21.11.2010
Initially it was available as a download, but because of the huge size, the download needed to be chopped into a number of smaller zip files. This seemed to cause the download to become corrupted in a great many cases, so it was decided to go with the torrent method, which solved the file corruption problems.

Most of the people think torrents=illegal=problems.
The truth is that torrents=easy and fast way to download files, but they are mainly used for sharing illegal and messed up content.
Not all of the files are messed up, for example the UP and HSFX torrents are safe and working, they are just one .exe instead of many zips or rars.
Remember to scan all of the files to download, that is the best way to keep your files and information secure.

Okay guys. I think I did everything right, downloaded the files and installed the software into the same folder that IL2 1946 exists and ran the JSGME application and moved the "mods" from the left to right but, when I run the game there is no visible change.
Is there a trick to getting this to work in Windows 7?

Aside from making sure it's NOT installed to either of the "Program Files" folders, I don't think so.

Hello, gixxer, and welcome to our community website.
For Windows 7 when all else fails, install IL-2 1946 into the Public folder and see if that works.
Also, be sure that you are doing the basics right as described in my guide:
IL-2 Newbie Guide

The amazing quality and number of mods for IL-2 are worth the effort to get.

Well, it's installing it here: Computer/Local Disk C/Program Files (x86)/Ubisoft/IL-2 Sturmovik 1946

Go to the il2 1946 folder and copy/paste it to another folder outside of program files. I put mine in a folder I called "Games" in my "C" drive. One of the nice things about Il2 is that once you have a basic unmodded install of the game you can copy it and save it as a backup- no matter how many copies you have they will all work.

Alright, I copied the game from my Programs (x86) folder and placed it in a new folder I created on my "C" drive, simply called "Games". I launched the game and still NO DICE. The JSGME Applicaiton is inside that folder along with the IL-2 Sturmovik 1946 game. Is that not correct? What am I missing here? I followed the instructions to the best of my ability.

Just a tip in case you didn't check all that before.
Always verify the HSFX installer points to exactly the same folder were your IL-2 1946 resides.
Backup any step by checking that the basic install, the 4.08 patched and the 4.09 patched versions RUN.
And make backups of the clean version and/or the 4.09 patched one.
Sorry if I tell you stuff you already now.
Next time install in a different folder than program files. Counts for other games as well..
Good Luck!

I installed the game and checked it after each update. It is currently at 4.09M and working just fine but this Mod will not work with it for some reason. Everything is in the same folder and once the application is open, all mods are on the left side saying they are activated but, no change inside the game what so ever. I'm about to throw in the towel. I'm afraid it may be above my skill level to get this thing to work. :x
Re: For All Users: Getting your game Running with HSFX 4.1 - Fireskull - 24.11.2010
I felt the same way with my first mod pack, but I kept at it and finally got the thing running. It's actually easier now than ever, in my opinion.
Did you test for corrupt files?
Try deactivating all mods and activate them one at a time, starting with the History Mod. Activate the mods which seem least likely to gliche first, such as activating and deactivating Stock Clouds. I think that it might not work with some mods being in conflict with one another. Likely that we can't activate many mods at one time without a conflict somewhere in IL-2. The mod creators have read-me and usually know about conflicts with other mods which must be turned OFF while using their mod.
I hope this helps.

In order to activate a mod using JSGME, it is necessary to move it from the left to the right side using the single arrow in the center after highlighting the mod you wish to activate. If all mods are on the left side, none of them have been activated.

Just a shot in the dark:
Could it be you installed HSFX4.1 into another folder than the game but the JSGME sort of landed in the IL-2 1946 folder?
That's one very unrealistic guess, but I've seen horses puke..
If all seems good: make sure you have no mod activated that overrides files of another mod.
If all fails, TBH, I would install the entire thing again after downloading another time and making sure
all parts are complete as presented by the Torrent screen (status screen).
What I (personally) would never ever do again is uninstall and reinstall IL-2 1946 in one and the same Windows harddrive.
I have done that several times in the past with XP 32 Bit SP and every single time I did that my graphics (multiple applications) were porked afterwards, as whiningly reported in the IL-2 Tech help section..
I have no idea why that happened, but I saw it on 2 rigs with NVidia cards (2 different) and my Ati card..
So, basically:
Good Luck, gixxerthou04..!
